Junior: It's overall good. The math department is horrendous, headed by a teacher who just doesn't care about the students unless she likes you. The math department also gives out an absolutely obscene amount of homework every single class; it's toeing the line of breaking the Geneva Convention because the amount of time they expect you to sink into math class alone is a borderline war crime. Junior: Whitney M. Young Magnet High School is an excellent school in the vigors of its academics, sports, and numerous extracurriculars. As a junior, I am surrounded by students who are very involved in this school; they dedicate their time to studying, practicing instruments, playing sports, and creating art. Additionally, students are encouraged to take the initiative to start their own clubs and design self-guided senior projects; this school prepares students to become leaders. I value the emphasis that Young places on being well-rounded. I have experienced a mixture of challenging and interesting courses and I feel prepared for college. Sophomore: Jones is a highly academic school, but sports can still be exciting. Senior: I have attended this school for 4 years, this is my final year here. I have changed and grown immensely since I have first walked in those doors. I have met new people, been given opportunities that I couldn't even fathom to believe were possible. The academics at Von Steuben are very high, the courses are rigorous and demanding but rewarding in the end. Currently I'm taking AP Chem and APES, both are tough courses, but AP Chem is on another level of difficult. There are classes and clubs and sports for all at Von. I have been part of 2 sports and a club since I have started attending this school. Water polo and swimming are sports I have played for a better part of 10 years of my life. I have continued to play and swim for 4 of my years here. I might've taken a short break in order to be a part of a school play and musical my 3rd year but still I was present in both. Senior: In my last year of attending this high school, I am very proud to call myself a cyclone. Living in Chicago, I had so many options, but choosing the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences was the best choice I possibly could have made for myself. This school, the staff, and all of the students have provided me with a plethora of experiences that I simply could not get at an 'ordinary' high school. After all, we are the last functioning farm in the city of Chicago! Seeing cows, pigs, and even alpacas on a daily basis is most definitely not 'normal'. Despite this, it has become my normal and I couldn't ask for anything else. This school has so much to offer academically as well, and I can speak on this myself as I have had the opportunity to take honors, AP, and even Dual Enrollment classes throughout my high school career. I have some positive things to say about Ogden starting with the impeccable staff and the rules they have in order to keep the school on track, organized, fun, safe, and a friendly area for everyone. Alum: JROTC was the best experience I had at Steinmentz. One of the things I liked is all the freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in jrotc had activities together. It was a class or a ceremony we shared that time and space together. I learned from my teachers and peers. Overall classes were great from what I recall. Now that I know about different learning styles, we should off been helped/evaluated based on our style. Senior: The best part about attending hubbard highschool is the community built around our neighborhood, the parents, the students, staff, and community around us, that help us stay connected and becoming a better school all together. I enjoy the sports here at hubbard highschool, all the activities and events held at the school that brings all students together into enjoying our school together. Junior: At first I was a little skeptical on going to George Washington HighSchool because it had a bad rep from being involved in gang activity and being racist as well as homophobic, but I have rarely dealt with that in my 3 years of being here. The students speak up for their needs and rights and no hatred is tolerated without backfire. My teachers are great and connect with students and really support our means to success. If anything needed to be changed I would say our facilities. We have over 1200 students and only one building with only 2 floors. We don’t have enough classrooms, janitors nor space to move comfortably. Junior: Throughout my three years I've been at Morgan Park. I would like to say that it has been a great experience. The food there is very good. The academics programs are great and you meet a lot of new people, learn a lot of new things, and most importantly the administration and staff there are so helpful.
