Magdalena Maria Schneider (1915-1996) was a German actress and singer, born in Vienna. She first rose to fame in the 1930s as part of the popular operetta scene in Vienna and Munich. She starred in more than 30 films over the course of her career, including the classic romantic drama Sissy. She was also a noted cabaret singer, performing regularly in Vienna and other German cities. In the early 1950s, she gave birth to her only child, Romy Schneider, who would later become one of the most iconic German actresses of the twentieth century.
