Product Description

From Emmy winners Conan O'Brien and Greg Daniels (The Office) and creator David Jenkins comes People of Earth, a comedy series about a support group for alien abductees. People of Earth centers on skeptical journalist Ozzie Graham (Wyatt Cenac), who investigates a support group to write about the members' supposed alien encounters. The more he digs into their oddball claims, however, the more he recognizes a semblance of truth to their stories and, possibly, even signs that point to his own alien abduction. The show's ensemble cast includes Cenac (The Daily Show), Ana Gasteyer (Saturday Night Live), Oscar Nunez (The Office), Michael Cassidy (Argo), Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley), Luka Jones (Her), Brian Huskey (Neighbors), Nancy Lenehan (Catch Me if You Can), Tracee Chimo (Orange Is the New Black), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Selfie), Bjorn Gustafsson (Spy) and Ken Hall (Straight Man).

Worth buying this single disc Season One... if it plays on your device.

Worth buying this single disc Season One... if it plays on your device.
I have 3 different Sony Blu-Ray/DVD players and fortunately this 3-1/2 hour single disc did play on each. I also tried it on a 6 year old Windows 10 laptop, one still with a built-in DVD burner/player, and to my surprise it did play back fine through that device. The disc and packaging looks like any professionally made DVD. The graphics and notes printed on the DVD cover also look perfectly normal and has all the Warner Brothers property copyright warnings you would expect. But then I also saw something else. If you can't read this on my attached jpg scans of the back, this is the text of the subtle disclaimer printed on the cover:"This disc is expected to play back in DVD video "Play Only" devices, and may not play back in other DVD devices, including recorders and PC drives."When I checked the source info on my PC I saw a list of unfamiliar files in the DVD RW Drive. The disc contains necessary formatting files and most importantly "VOB" files [this is the actual content to be played], all dated 11/29/2017. VOB files are based on older MP2 and (unlike MP4) these files are not necessarily accessible through all devices. From what I have just read online, this may explain the problem which some people experience with some players: "...since VOB files are obsolete and replaced by video formats like MP4 or MPEG, the default video players in many devices don’t support it."Well, enough said of the potential problem when hoping to play the disc on some devices. The entire season is contained on only one single-sided disc and this surprised me. The video quality is adequate for a recording of a TV series and is presented in 1080/60p (Full High Definition). Sound as well I would consider perfectly adequate and nothing more is really needed. The content contains absolutely no additional features, only the bare bones of each episode. There is an option for English language subtitles but only the single Dolby Digital 5.1 English language audio track. Each episode is indexed into 5 arbitrary "chapters" just to jump the action ahead in stages if desired. The 7.48Gb of data for 3 hours, 34 minutes total play time may be very cramped on a single side of a DVD (remember this is not a Blu-Ray disc) so I doubt the audio and video could be any better. And without heavy special effects content this is fine.I really enjoyed this series when it first aired on TV (TBS cable network in the US) in October 2016 and the Second (final) season a year later. A clever adult comedy / science fiction series with few flashy effects. For younger viewers, these days deeply entrenched in effects-heavy movies and games, it may seem dull and even boring.Perhaps I would NOT risk giving this as a gift to someone who may not be able to play this oddly configured DVD-R disc. The Prime Video option of buying the content for streaming might be a safer choice. I usually prefer physical discs, but purchase of streaming a full season would be a couple of dollars cheaper anyway, and these DVDs are not likely to ever be discounted. And streaming the series would not eliminate any special features, simply because there are absolutely no extras on the disc. But, if you are a fan of the series, it may be worth taking a chance with the DVD as I did. I was not disappointed.

The DVD came quickly, and not many places sell this TV show, but it is completely worth watching! Quirky and funny, the plot is imaginative and full of intelligence. I’m not one to buy a show (ever) but since they stopped production for the third season, one and two are worth having

This show continues to delight with hilarious and sharp writing, great character arcs and superbly assembled cast of eccentric characters. If you like your television shows with heart, humor, action, mystey, suspense, weirdness, mythology, and/or drama then look no further. This show really does have it all.

A must watch. 5/5 Stars.

If you like a weird plot line, and funny, kooky characters, this is the show for you. There really are no "normal" characters in this show, but that is a good part of its charm. No matter which character is in the spotlight, you know something funny is going to happen. All of the humans are real, but flawed in some way, and even the aliens are quirky. It's a very funny show. I don't have any idea why it only lasted 2 seasons.

Loved the series. Was sad when it only ran 2 seasons. The DVD is just the basics. No extras.
