When Ludovico Gonzaga III was born on 5 June 1412, in Mantova, Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia, Austria, his father, Gianfrancesco Gonzaga I, Marchese di Mantova, was 17 and his mother, Paola Agnese Malatesta, was 19. He married Barbara Von Bradenburg on 12 November 1433, in Wedding, Mitte, Berlin, Germany. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 8 daughters. He registered for military service in 1432. He died on 12 June 1478, in Goito, Mantova, Lombardy, Italy, at the age of 66, and was buried in Mantova, Mantova, Lombardy, Italy.
