Romantic and top notch service. Antipasto plate was delicious and beautifully plated. My pasta dish was good, but I wish I had ordered a veal dish ( next time). Girlfriend’s gnocchi was very tasty and quite filling. Would recommend for anyone seeking a good italian meal in a wonderful setting

The ambiance is spectacular. I’ve eaten here many times and it always a great culinary experience. The service is perfect and the food is delicious. Portions are big and the flavors are authentic. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. The burrata is creamy and fresh. Calamari are tender and crisp. The Sunday sauce, which is available on Saturday and Sunday, is reminiscent of my father’s- served with rigatoni and a large moist meatball, short rib, braciole and sausage. Linguine with clams is fresh, briny and flavorful. Shrimp dishes are exquisite with notes of garlic and lemon always cooked with quality olive oil. Wine selection is varied and the servers are very good at pairing wine with the meal. The cannoli are crisp on the outside with a creamy ricotta filling. Better than any pastry shop and the tiramisu is a must have. The place speaks for itself. Almost 50 years of fine dining at excellent prices. The proprietor, Sal Esposito, brings a delightful culinary experience to the table, no need to travel to Italy to eat! Just come to Il Cortile. Bravo!

Weird approach to service as the waiters behaved as they were allowing using to be their customers and we should be grateful for their attention, never been to a restaurant like it. Food was ok, but it was a crap night out due to the waiters.

I brought some friends from out of town to dinner at Il Cortile. Angelo was our waiter. He’s one of those waiters that truly loves what he does, and he effortlessly provides a top notch experience. His knowledge of food and wine combined with his jovial and charming nature really made our night! This continues to be one of my favorite NYC restaurants. They knock it out of the park every time. You will not be disappointed!

Visited this beautiful restaurant on Saturday, Feb. 10th. Atmosphere is perfect, menu is large. Frank was our server and he was wonderful in answering our questions and was very friendly. Frank really knows the menu well. We had the mushroom app, ceasar salad and 2 veal entrees. Food was amazing. Service was superb! We will be back. Il Cortile is very lucky to have Frank. Ellen C.

Went for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Seated right away with reservation. It’s a typical Little Italy NYC place with kind of tacky decor. Very good service. Basket of break was lackluster. Rice ball appetizer delicious. But only two rice balls for $18. Penne vodka pasta with chicken was bland as was the vegetarian pasta and pesto pasta entrees. The best dish was the lobster ravioli special. 4 huge raviolis and great sherry sauce. The eggplant rollatini app was delish but small for $18. No dessert. There is alot better Italian food in NJ/NY but still ok.

Absolutely gorgeous food, wine, cocktails and service. Best Christmas Day meal ever! We wanted somewhere the NYC families go, and we’re lucky enough to find it. It’s very popular so make sure you book.

This restaurant felt like an intimate, small restaurant but, actually, it's a rather large restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was lovely. Unfortunately, the inclement weather prevented us from being in the courtyard. My only complaint? I couldn't make it through my ragu!

We returned again to IL Cortile. Up from Philly, for a Holiday lunch in Little Italy. We hit bad traffic coming from mid-town, but a quick call and the maitre d' held our skylight room table. We were welcomed like part of the family ( and at one, Soprano's style, sitting at JG's favorite table). They have managed to deliver the whole package every time we visit, and this time did not disappoint! Drinks to desert, they delivered....but treat yourself and order the stuffed chicken ( Pollo Rollatine...) with the marsala sauce...just off the charts good. Thanks IL Cortile for making our lunch so special!

I have been to Il Cortile multiple times when visiting NYC and brought 3 friends tonight. Everyone loved it. We had 1 pasta dish, 2 chicken dishes and a fish dish and it was all delicious. The service was prompt, friendly, and courteous. We highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again.

Waiter was brisk. Prices on the menu were higher than what they posted on their lit sign outside. They automatically added a 20% tip for a table of two (we only had entrees). I challenged waiter on the automatic tip and he changed it. But do people know or are willing to ask that? Service was brusk from the old Tim veteran waiter. Food was so-so. I had spaghetti with meat sauce, my daughter had rigatoni with tomato sauce an prosciutto. She said sauce was bland and prosciutto was chewy and stale.

Beautiful atmosphere!! Excellent service. The food was delicious. My teen girls loves the Alfredo pasta. I had the stuffed chicken dish. Great way to end our fall break getaway.

Amazing Italian food. We had buratta, Caesar salad, red sangria, chicken parm, and 2 pasta dishes - capellini , farfalle all hugely flavorful and delicious. The Caesar is very garlicky but my family loves garlic so we thought it was great. The pasta was well cooked and each one had a little different touch that made them special so I really can’t recommend one over the others. They were all excellent!

Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
