How to Calculate Life Path Number

Calculating the Life Path Number is easy - only through addition and two more rules. Add the numbers of your birthday, and do not reduce master numbers (we will talk about master numbers later).

Grouping your Birthday Numbers

You can group the birthday numbers in two ways: the incorrect and the correct way. Let’s start with the wrong method because it is what confuses a lot of people. It means adding everything together.

Let’s see how people usually calculate life path numbers incorrectly. We are starting with the incorrect method first to show you what not to do when using a life path merology calculator.

The Incorrect Way

Birthday Date: October 2nd, 1991.

October= 10

2=2

1991=1991

10+2+1+9+9+1=31

Well, this is incorrect!

The Correct Way

The right way to determine your Life Path number is to group Day, Month, and Year and sum them up separately, reduce each group to a single number, and then add them up before you reduce them to a single number.

Birth Date: October 2nd, 1991

October = 10 = 1

2 = 2

1991 = 1+9+9+1 = 20 = 2+0 = 2

Now, add all the groups:

1+2+2 = 5

The correct life path number is 5.

If you have noticed, the calculation of the year is reduced to one digit before you add it to the Day and Month numbers. In some scenarios, the final life path number will be the same when calculated correctly and incorrectly. Thus, you must do it correctly.

Note that the year in the above calculation is reduced to a single number before adding it to the other numbers from the Month and Day. In some situations, the final Life Path number will come out the same when done correctly and incorrectly; this is why it is essential to always do it the correct way.

You Can’t Reduce Master Numbers 11, 22 and 33

As we mentioned earlier, you cannot reduce master numbers—11, 22, or 33—when calculating; if you end up with them, leave them as is. They are unique numbers with unique meanings and properties.

Instance:

Birth Date: August 29th, 1974

August = 8

29 = 2+9 = 11 (Master number; don’t reduce)

1974= 1+9+7+4 = 21 = 2+1 = 3

8 + 11 + 3 = 22 (Master number)

22 is the life path number.

Questions about Life Path Calculations

Well, depending on where you are coming from, there are some ways you can format the date. However, the two most common formats are as follows.

  • Day/Month/Year
  • Year/Month/Day

Does the order of calculation matter at all?

The order is not an issue, but as long as you group by day, month, and year, the final numbers will always be the same.

Am I a 2 or 11, 4 or 22, 6 or 33?

Here is the thing: if you do proper calculations and end up with master numbers 11, 22, or 33, you are both. Keep in mind the Life Path Number represents the Master Number. Note, however, that you may also carry some properties of the secondary reduced digit.

For instance, a life path 11 may carry some characteristics of a 2, but not all the traits. That’s why, in most reports, one may see that it is written 29/2 or 11/2 to show the secondary characteristics. Now, if you have a Master Number, read the description of the Life Path for your secondary characteristics.

Are people with life path 11 more spiritually inclined than others?

Your life path number does not represent or show your spirituality. In fact, a life path 11 doesn’t mean all will be well. Many of these individuals go through rough patches in life that go beyond what they think they are capable of. Remember that all life paths come with growth opportunities and individual trials. So, no group is better than the other.

So, there you have all you need to know about life path calculator.
