Visitation & facility guidelines

This information may change if there is an increase in COVID-19 cases in the community. Visitation may vary per site, so please check with the facility for details.

General visitor information

Please follow our visitation guidelines for the safety of our patients, visitors and team members.

  • Visitation hours are 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a maximum of two visitors at a time at the bedside, except in the intensive care unit (ICU).
    • ICU patients may have two visitors at the bedside from 9am to 9pm and one visitor from 9pm to 9am.
  • Minors are welcome to visit and should be supervised by an adult who is not the patient.
    • No minors are allowed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and in labor and delivery.
  • Visitors must present identification when entering the facility.
  • Visitors must wear a visitor badge.
  • Upon leaving the facility, all visitors must return their ID visitor badge to the identified location.
  • A hospital-issued mask and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
  • Visitors must wash hands or use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the patient’s room.
  • Visitors are not permitted to wear personal gloves upon entry into the facility.
  • Visitation may be suspended at any time to ensure safety.

Special areas

Behavioral health

  • Visitation must be coordinated with clinical staff on the unit.

Peri-op services & ambulatory surgery 

  • One visitor at a time is permitted. Visitation can be suspended at any time at the discretion of the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) team to ensure patient safety. 

Emergency department

  • One visitor per patient is permitted at the bedside.

Doctor appointments & radiology testing

  • Outpatient office visitation will align outpatient guidelines as closely as possible with the hospital guidelines.

Pediatrics

  • Two designated support people are permitted at all times, including during pediatric procedures. These individuals may rotate.
  • Patients with intellectual/developmental disabilities and patients with cognitive impairments, including dementia:
    • May designate at least one support person to remain with them through their hospitalization and additional visitors may also be with the patient during designated visiting hours.
  • Noncompliance with these guidelines will result in the visitor being asked to leave.

Quiet hours

Quiet hours are from 9:30pm – 6am daily. We ask all staff, patients and visitors to help maintain a restful, healing environment for our patients. During this time, please lower your voices, limit visitors at the bedside and place cell phones on vibrate.

Smoke-free campus

Lenox Hill Hospital is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is not allowed in the hospital, or in any area outside the hospital, including the parking lots. This includes electronic cigarettes. The Center for Tobacco Control offers free stop smoking programs. Please ask a staff member for a brochure or call (516) 466-1980 for more information. Parking

Lenox Hill Hospital offers valet parking to our patients and visitors at discounted rates daily between 5am and 9pm. Valet parking is located at the main entrance at 100 East 77th Street.

Patients and visitors can also get special parking rates for up to five hours at Rapid Park, located at 165 East 77th Street (between Lexington and Third avenues).

To take advantage of these rates, parking stubs must be validated at the patient information desk in the main lobby.

Parking rates:

  • Up to 4 hours – $30
  • From 4 to 8 hours – $40
  • From 8 to 24 hours – $45

Religious/spiritual support

Professional chaplains are available to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and families of all faiths. They are trained to listen in an open and nonjudgmental way. Chaplains make visits to patients and families upon request. To request a visit from a chaplain, please ask your nurse to contact the office, or call ext. 42545 from inside the hospital or (212) 434-2545 from outside.

ATMs

If you need cash during your visit, an ATM is on the second floor in the cafeteria.

Flowers

All flower deliveries should be directed to the Security Office, where they will be picked up and delivered by a hospital volunteer. Only balloons made out of Mylar are permitted in patient rooms. Flowers and Mylar balloons are not permitted in the intensive care unit, cardiac care units, cardiovascular surgery recovery unit and designated rooms in the progressive coronary care unit.

We have a cafeteria located on the second floor of the main building.

  • 4pm – 8:30pm

Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 9:30am – 4:30pm

Vending machines are available 24/7.

We also have a coffee shop located on the second floor of the main building (right out of the main café).

Saturday: 8am – 4pm

Information desk

Family and friends can call our information desk (located in the main lobby) to find out a patient's general condition and room and telephone number. To reach the information desk from outside the hospital, call (212) 434-2424 or from inside, call ext. 42424.

Lost & found

The hospital is not responsible for lost or broken items unless these items were taken into our care, custody and control. If you lose something, please notify a nurse right away, and we will make every effort to help you find it. Unclaimed articles are turned in to the Security Department, located at the 76th Street entrance. To inquire about lost items, please contact Security at (212) 434-2470.
