REPORT – In the countryside of southern Ukraine, these Donbass veterans are getting closer to enemy lines.

Except for the walls that still stand, the windowless house is devastated. But at the foot of the steps that lead to the entrance, the shady and discreet garden offers a peaceful respite when the bombs are not whistling around. On a small glass coffee table, curiously matching the place, lined with a rocking chair abandoned by the owner, trail tea bags and a box of chocolates, next to a walkie-talkie. If one sits on the movable couch facing the landing of the house, the Russian forces are to the left, about two kilometers away. Here is the refuge that has been hosting Termite, Tourist, Kara, Podvor (backyard) and Oxotnik (hunter) for several weeks. These five Ukrainian army officers form a detachment group on the southern front line, not far from Mykolaiv, in the village of Pribugskoye.
