We Tried Seth Rogen's New Cannabis Line

The line launched in the US on March 11, and last week I was finally able to get my hands on some of the PLANT (aka weed) part of Houseplant.

You know Seth Rogen. Actor, comedian, writer, producer, and iconic stoner.

Well, the day has finally come! Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Rogen's longtime friend and business partner) have come out with their own cannabis line, through their brand Houseplant. The brand has been operational in Canada since 2019, but officially launched in the US on March 11th of this year, and last week I was finally able to get my hands on some of the PLANT (aka weed) part of Houseplant.

So, without further ado, hi, I'm Lara! And this is my boyfriend, Tom. We both smoke a lot of weed, but for different reasons.

While I get high most often in a medicinal capacity for my endometriosis and adenomyosis, Tom gets high most often just because it's fun. I use multiple forms of cannabis every day, while Tom is more of a social consumer on weekends.

We received two of the brand's strains; Rainband (Indica) and Pancake Ice (Sativa).

A side-by-side image of the two strains; Rainband and Pancake Ice

Here's an image of the side of the packaging for Rainband. The packaging is recyclable and was customized to maintain flower freshness and minimize environmental impact. I also loooove the color scheme(s). My only complaint? They are low-key hard to open!

I wasn't alone in struggling a bit in my excited hurry to get the package open, which is why it's cool that Seth uploaded this video demonstrating the best techniques for doing so:

I chose to try out the strain Pancake Ice first, so here's a picture of a lil' nugget of Pancake Ice. Poetry, really.

Strain #1: Pancake Ice (Chemdog x Mandarin Cookies)

Listen, I tried to take some cool ~arty~ photos for you all whilst inhaling this strain, but Pancake Ice is pretty strong at first (with a THC % of 32.22 and a good, potent gassy flavor) so a good SOLID hit from my bong did the trick (and made me cough).

Strain #2: Rainband (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints)

If you're in Los Angeles and of legal age, Houseplant cannabis can be ordered online at Houseplant.amuse.com and found in Sweet Flower Dispensaries (Melrose, Westwood, Arts District, Studio City) and is $60 for an eighth.

Outside of LA, Houseplant strains are sold at the following dispensaries throughout California:

San Francisco: Posh Green Cannabis Boutique and The Apothecarium Dispensaries

San Diego area: March and Ash

Santa Barbara: The Coastal Dispensary

Orange County: People's

San Jose: Airfield Supply

Palm Desert: Royal Highness

And finally, we would be remiss to discuss cannabis without mentioning that the fight for cannabis justice is far from over. To learn more about how you can get involved, check out Last Prisoner Project or Cage-Free Cannabis.
