We Tried Seth Rogen's New Cannabis Line

Houseplant launched in the US with three initial strains. Rogen and Goldberg went through an extensive process of personally testing hundreds of strains before landing on three strains for the launch: Diablo Wind, Pancake Ice, and Pink Moon. In April, the strain Rainband was also rolled out, and more strains will continue to roll out in the future. The brand, according to its press release about the launch, "stands for a just, effective approach to cannabis policy and is committed to helping create a diverse and equitable industry through education, advocacy, community empowerment, economic opportunity, and inclusion."

Rainband (Indica) is a cross between the strains Triangle Kush and Animal Mints and has 24.01% THC while Pancake Ice (Sativa) is a cross between the strains Chemdog (Chem Dawg), I-95, and Mandarin Cookies with 32.22% THC. Hot damn.

Lara's thoughts on Pancake Ice: This strain is soooo good. I personally love gassy, diesel-y strains, and this flavor did not disappoint. I am not usually someone who reaches for a Sativa because, in my experience, I haven't had as much success with them when treating my chronic pain. But every once in a while I will find a Sativa-dominant strain that blows my socks off, and I can say with complete confidence that this is one of those strains. If I'm being honest, I assumed that this line would be good because, well, it's Seth Rogen and he probably smokes more than I do. But I didn't expect it to be this good. I smoked this strain in Palm Springs for a week celebrating my 30th birthday, and let me tell you: Taking a big hit of this and then getting on a raft and floating in the pool is among the greatest experiences of my life. I was SOARING. I felt alive. I felt very little physical or mental pain. I was happy. Life felt worth living and then some. I honestly give it a 10/10. I will absolutely purchase this in the future.

Tom's thoughts on Pancake Ice: I love this strain too. It's a very potent strain that starts off with a karate chop to the throat that eases into more of a zen of good vibes once you catch your breath again. It's a very uplifting and calming high at the same time, creating a very functional and relaxing daze that made the present moment the best moment of all time.

Lara's thoughts on Rainband: Another really great strain. I smoked this strain in the evening before eating dinner, and it did not disappoint. I struggle a lot with nausea, and this strain did succeed in giving me an appetite, which allowed me to eat a meal. It also helped with the abdominal swelling I was experiencing, in addition to easing my lower back pain. While this flavor wasn't as potent, in my opinion, as the flavor of Pancake Ice, it still gave me an immensely pleasurable high that both left me in less pain and made watching 90 Day Fiancé that much better. I absolutely will, like with Pancake Ice, be consuming this one again in the future. In terms of which strain I would recommend possibly trying out if you're someone who experiences chronic pain like me, I do think Rainband was just a little better for my pain, but I will ultimately use both for varying types of pain in the future.

Tom's thoughts on Rainband: This strain gave me melted-butter levels of relaxation, where I just wanted to permanently merge with the closest comfy-looking object that could maybe support my weight and stay like that indefinitely, or at least until the movie finished.
