Lara Dutta celebrated 20 years of her Miss Universe win by sharing some unseen pics from the pageant.
Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe in the year 2000. Today, she celebrated 20 years of her win by going down the memory lane and sharing some gorgeous unseen images from the pageant with her followers on Instagram.
She shared pictures of herself from different rounds on the stage from that day. She also penned a heartfelt note for these images. "20 years to the day!! 12th May 2000, Nicosia, Cyprus. What a wonderful gift to receive from the universe! One I'm eternally grateful for," she wrote.
The Miss Universe pageant was held in Nicosia, Cyprus in the year 2000. The first image in the post shows Lara in a simple white one-shoulder figure-hugging dress with which she opted to wear no jewellery.
The second image that she shared was from the swimsuit round for which she chose a pink two-piece halter-neck bikini.
The third picture shows Lara Dutta in a stunning red one-shoulder figure-hugging embellished gown which she teamed with a matching stole.
She saved the best one for the last. The last picture shows the moment Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe 2000. The shot perfectly captured her happiness.
That day is also extra special because, with her answer in the final round, Lara Dutta made a record in the history of the Miss Universe pageant. The actress scored a 9.99 for her answer in the final round and won the pageant. Nobody had ever got this score before Lara Dutta.
That same year Priyanka Chopra was crowned Miss World and Dia Mirza won the Miss Asia Pacific title.
Lara Dutta was the second Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe. Before her, Sushmita Sen won the title in 1994.
