Women’s Lacrosse Clashes with Lafayette Saturday

BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team returns continues its homestand with a contest against Lafayette on Saturday at Nickerson Field. Opening draw against the Leopards is set for noon.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU fell to Army West Point on Wednesday, 17-7.
  • Freshman Tessa Geddes led BU's offense in the loss with a career high four goals for four points.
  • Senior Ellen Monahan improved to 24 ground balls this season as she ranks 34th in the nation and 5th in the Patriot League for ground balls per game with a value of 2.67.
  • Junior Hannah Tillier has the second-most goals (15) and points (23) on the Terrier squad.
  • Tillier and freshman Reilly Walsh are tied for the most assists this season with eight each.
  • Sophomore Elle Stevenson found the back of the net twice against the Black Knights after not scoring a goal the past two games. She leads BU with 20 goals this season. 
  • Walsh is on an eight-game points streak after logging an assist against Army.
  • Monahan leads BU in caused turnovers with 13 and is second in draw controls with 28.
  • Geddes is the Terriers' leader on the draw as she has corralled 49 this season. 
 
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS
  • Lafayette is 3-7 overall and 1-3 on the road.
  • The Leopards most recently lost to American, 12-5.
  • They are 0-3 in league play with a 17-4 loss to Army West Point and a 12-11 loss to Holy Cross.
  • Lafayette's wins have come against Wagner (15-9), Central Connecticut State (14-4) and Eastern Michigan (7-6). It has not won a game since March 9.
  • Nine freshmen and 28 upperclassmen make up the Lafayette roster.
  • Head coach Katie McConnell is in her fifth season at the helm.
 
THE SERIES
  • BU is 8-2 against Lafayette and 5-1 at home.
  • This will be the 11th meeting of the league foes. 
  • BU last defeated Lafayette on April 4, 2021, 18-7.
  • The Terriers fell to the Leopards 12-10 on the road in 2023 and 16-13 at home in 2022.
  • Lafayette has never scored more than 16 goals at Nickerson Field.
  • BU's largest margin of victory was its 18-7 win in 2021.
