Gaga ultimately won the Oscar for Best Original Song that night, and gave an emotional shout-out to Cooper in her speech: "Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that could have sung this song with me but you. Thank you for believing in us."

During a press conference backstage after winning her Oscar, Gaga revealed Cooper gave her some important advice ahead of their performance: "Bradley said to me yesterday, right before we did our last rehearsal for this performance of 'Shallow': 'Let's just drop a little bit of joy.' And I said, 'Okay.' And it turns out, joy did a lot for me."

Gaga and Cooper have had an incredible working relationship, with Cooper telling Time, "I love her so deeply. It's because we were at our most vulnerable together." Gaga echoed his sentiment during a press conference at the Toronto Internation Film Festival, revealing, "I don’t know that I've ever had a closer artistic relationship than I have had with Bradley, a closer exchange."
