One guest had a night job and left her dog in the room to bark all night long. Then they moved the maid in to the room next to us. She had long and loud conversations on her phone using the speaker on her cell phone in Spanish. The door in between the rooms does not cut any noise between them. We heard the late-night conversations until the wee hours past 1 am. I finally turned on the tv to try to drown out the noise of her and the little dog barking down the hall. It was not a restful stay.

Since I last visited in 2019, this hotel has changed owners. This has mostly been for the better. The breakfast area has been expanded, and the carpeting has been removed (Hotel carpeting is usually gross). The breakfast is still not as good as it could be, but there is more seating, so you don't have to wait for a party to leave before sitting down. The exterior could use some work, though - landscaping and such. Also, it's about 1/3 cheaper than it was when I visited in 2019!

I’m rating this a four star because Cherokee and DANIEL were very courteous and hospitable as should be in a hotel situation to help us acquire extra things that we needed for our room. I felt sure they are struggling, though, because the hotel is being renovated parts look like A vacated bomb shelter. .but we were on the side that was newly renovated so we had no problem, but having to walk-through renovated areas was a bit discouraging. it wasn’t the staffs fault and we just want to give them a hi5. They are working under difficult circumstances and but still maintained decorum. All guests can see it. The owner needs to finish the renovation.

Staff is completely unknowledgeable, remodel is poor at best, and getting General Manager to acknowledge anything is not going to happen! Took over 20 minutes just to get checked in because clerk had no idea how to without texting and calling people to walk her through it. Remodeled rooms were "putting lipstick on a pig" with 1980's appliances, smeared paint, and things coming apart like the chair in the room. Beds are like sleeping on a concrete floor!

Passing through Kansas City on our way to Texas we thought this would be a good place to stay. The hotel is being renovated and we were assigned to a room on the 3rd floor that had been completed and was quite nice.

However, our arrival was interrupted by the desk clerk arguing with some unwanted people who were hanging out in the two chairs in the otherwise empty lobby. Eventually I got her attention to check in. I asked for the best way to get to our room and she sent me to the wrong hallway. All of the fire doors were closed and it was a huge effort to go through them only to find out we were in the wrong wing. Turns out there was a side entrance near the elevator we could have used, but she didn’t tell us.

I have a small dog and noted on the paperwork at registration that unregistered pets would result in a $100 charge! The desk clerk had me sign a damage waiver (normal), but required the $20 pet fee to be paid in cash rather than being put on my bill. This was different than any other LaQuinta I have ever stayed at—my next night was in Marshall, TX, where pets are welcome without any additional fee or paperwork (and was a much nicer property).

As I took my dog out for a walk an hour after checking in, the person at the desk was trying to sell lip gloss from an assortment in a plastic container. She beckoned to me to come over because “you wear lip gloss” and demonstrated her unhappiness that I wasn’t interested. She did not wear a mask even though the sign on the outer door stated masks were required.

While the 1st and 2nd floors were under renovation, and therefore I understand some disruption, the outside of the property was unkempt—grass was very overgrown.

I did email the manager (as suggested on the check-in materials) but never received a response.

The cost for this stay was more than the very VM nicely maintained LaQuinta we stayed at the next night.

9/27/2020- we stayed here because of the pet friendly policy and it was a total rain storm. However, this is a serious mistake. It may be Kansas but there is a Hyatt Place and several alternative options very close by.

This hotel, if you can call it that, has blood on the walls, stained sheets, and is disgusting throughout due to a renovation that has apparently been going on for some time now. Mask policy is also lax here.

This is the worst laquinta hotel I’ve ever stayed at in 20+ states. It’s an embarrassment to the brand.

I needed a room for the night on my way to Texas and I noticed the cheapest room rate option advertised on their website was a romance option. It was even cheaper than the regular room rate option. This option states you get a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate. I didn't need the romance aspect, but a free bottle of wine and a box of chocolate is a nice perk. After I checked into the room, I noticed no wine and no chocolate. I went down to the front desk to inquire if it is maybe something I have to pick up with the receptionist. The front desk clerk had no clue, but said would call her manager. After she spoke to her manager she said he doesn't know why this is offered on the website. There was no offer to do anything from the receptionist to make up for the false advertising.
If you don't have a means to make good on an offer advertised on your website fir a package that includes so perks...then you should make it right and make some sort of concession because of the false advertising.

Towels on the floor to block cracks in the door, joke of a breakfast, Water and warm milk, hard stale muffins. The place looks like the getto. It is a SHAME to be listed as a Windham. The check in girl sprayed something all over the lobby and the door as we walked in that is sent me to an asthma attack.

My family and I traveled cross country from Seattle to Overland Park, staying in La Quinta Inns exclusively. We were impressed with 3/4 of them. The Overland Park location was a serious disappointment to us. It was being remodeled, no worries there, and it seemed like we were staying in a less than reputable motel. The sign pointing to the elevator was written in pencil, no joke. It had 1980s microwave and refrigerator in the room and some other outdated amenities, carpet, bathroom etc. The check in clerk on the Sunday, Jan 31, we checked in told us the TV was out but the WIFI was working. The wifi was horrible to connect to and slow speeds. The checkout clerk was cordial, but still messed up the room charge and what card it should have been completed on when we checked out..
This location should shut its doors and complete the remodel, then reopen. Not kidding and really disappointed that this La Quinta is an embarrassment to the name. I am also letting Wyndham Corp. know about this place. Bottom line until they complete the remodel, STAY AWAY!!!

I had stayed here this spring. The beds in this hotel are uncomfortable, ice machines don't work, wall paper in the hallways are pealing off the walls, and one of the elevators didn't work. If you are elderly get a room as close to the front door as you can; as you could get lost walking through the long walk around the building. Don't stay here. You know, Wyndham always say that their properties have strict standards, that might be for their time share properties, but they don't make their hotels follow their standards. Don't stay here.

I would have to agree with the other person. Taxi/Uber is probably your best bet. I have never noticed a bus or rail service.
