My experience after bringing it to a boil is I have to stand over the heat and stir nonstop for approximately 30 minutes, remove from the heat and add the egg and vanilla and continue to stir so that none of the tapioca sticks to the bottom of the pot and burns. Once it starts to cool, it begins to thicken. Not to worry, just try again. My first attempt at a new recipe or technique is always a learning experience. The second time I get it right.
