I wonder how tall the shortest male and female kpop celebs actually are. I believe nako from izone is 148 cm and woozi from seventeen is no more than 160 cm
I am not hating on celebs lying about their height but i find it annoying when it becomes a habit of everyone to add a few cms to their height. Even some tall people also add height for some reason.

Ye, they all do. Weekly idol used to have a segment where they measured idols real heights because everyone knew the offical heights are bigger than reality.
Some Idols also wear shoe lifts to appear taller. Not to mention, the endless heels with platforms.
OP mentioned Nako, on Weekly Idol they measured Nako's height and it was 149cm or 150cm so that one was true.

Most idols add a couple cms to their height and then there is idols like Johnny who seem to substract said cms. He's definitely taller than his official height, he knows it, we know it, he knows we know it but he'll never say the truth.
Some idols also look shorter cause they have a bad posture, case and point Jeno. He's the same height as Jaemin but he has the worst posture possible so he can look quite shorter sometimes unless he straightens up.
Got any examples of bad posture Jeno? As someone who slouches a lot I feel a certain kinship

Some of it is outright lies. Some is just genuine innaccuracy.
Your height fluctuates. If I measure myself when I first wake up, I'm going to be taller than after I've been up all day and on my feet. Was the last time they were measured an accurate reading barefoot standing straight? So many factors could lead to a wrong number unintentionally.
Exactly this! Throwback to Kim Hongjoong from Ateez saying he's usually 172 cm, 174 cm on a good day. He's probably both heights during every day, actually. Unless he spends one day not getting out of bed at all, then that might be an extra tall day since his spine won't compress from him standing up. Perhaps his "good" day is a "stay in bed" day.

I remember a video where MX’s Minhyuk was joking that some idols, who have their heights listed as 1,80 and above, when they stand next to him they are actually noticeably shorter, it’s not like he is that tall, he said his height wasn’t even 1,79 shortly before.
For girls it's difficult to gauge since they are various degree of high heels that these idols wear.
For boy, I only trust Treasure since they have the actual height measurements of the maknae line on their YouTube channel. Then I gauge the rest when they are doing a group shot together with similar uniforms (but then Hyunsuk sometimes cheated with tall-heel boots, lol)
Then I use Jihoon to gauge the other groups when he interviewed them at Inkigayo. Sungchan and him are a pretty good indicator if the other groups really are 180+ for real or not. He is 178-179 cm and Sungchan is probably 185+ cm. Although Sungchan does look taller than that coz he is very comparable to Rowoon here.
I find it hilarious when fans use certain idols as rulers to tell the heights of other idols

Honestly, I don't think most people actually know their real height. And even getting it checked at the Dr, unless they're specialized in growth disorders, probably won't get it right because their equipment usually isn't calibrated and they don't check more than once for accuracy.
I'm 5'5-3/4" (167cm), lol. I had to have a bone scan and they checked a lot. I thought I was 5'7" (170cm), lol. It's not that big of a difference but I lied for years. Guys seem to do this even more. I worked with a guy who said he was 5'8" (172.72cm). He was shorter than me, lol. He refused to believe me when I told him he was shorter.
I could write a book on men and their height fantasies. I'm tall and guys constantly add inches to my height like it's going to make them taller. I have had men swear I am over 6 feet when I'm not even a full 5'8". Had a guy (while hitting on me, mind you) tell me I must be 6'1" bc I'm almost as tall as his sister who is 6'3". I just know his sister was 5'9 at most
Yeah it's pretty funny. Most of the men in my family are at least 6' tall. Many are taller (1 grandmother was 6'). Like I know what that looks like. Why are they lying, lol. We're gonna find out.
Can you explain how the equipment isn’t calibrated for height? Height seems simpler to measure compared to weight.
It's mostly that the indicator is slapped to the wall, not precisely measured when doing so. For instance, when taking my son to the pediatrician, his height chart literally spiked up and down- sometimes inches, lol. At the specialist, the indicator was better quality and precisely measured and they checked it for accuracy regularly. Then would measure and re-measure for accuracy.
That makes sense. I can see some variance if they don’t measure the same every time or the tool gets applied wrong.
Yes they do lie. Common lies include, saying they are 180cm when they are 177-179cm (covering it by insoles etc) and saying they are 189 when they are over 190cm for males. Usually adding 2cm to their actual height and wearing insoles for females.
I wonder if the super tall male idols say they’re shorter to float their other members listed heights more easily…Do you know why?
sf9's rowoon and pentagon's wooseok has done this as well i think. probably to make the other members not look so short? in pentagon the shortest is the oldest member, jo jinho and his "official height" is 168cm
Its to sorta even out the group. You have to remember that an idol group was formed by an agency that thinks business wise.if you have a super tall idol, it's just as standout-ish and not as easy to receive public wise compared to say a 170-185 range idol. There's a reason I doubt SF9's channi's height, cause rowoon is 192 based off estimation.
My friend saw blackpink members in real life and she said they are as Tiny as we are... Me and her are freaking small, body type is small and height too. So yeah... I don't ever believe those numbers. Specially hight and weight are always lies.

I wouldn't say the weight are lies. Your weight fluctuates daily and is never static (plus clothing adds to the pounds) so they probably just picked the lowest weight that an idol has weighed and just stuck with it.

Lmao yes, they're heights tend to be a few cm less than listed. There's that Eat Jin Vlive where Jin exposed Jimin's real height(and he's considered "short" even though he's 174cm).
"Taller" is just seen as better and more attractive. I don't think there's a really concrete reason why, but height can signify health and make you look better in clothing.

His official height got demoted to 173 on his profile like the next day and poor yoongi got dragged down with him which was hilarious. He did post a celebration saying he got taller but even that is shorter than his original profile height

I did a meet & greet with 2PM a few years ago. I am 5'4". They were all pretty tall. Their official heights are listed anywhere between 5'10" and 6'1" and that feels fairly accurate.

They do. But also heels and insoles do a lot. Here’s aespa and their height variety. Karina is 167.8cm (yes, it’s that specific), Winter 164cm, Giselle 163cm, and Ningning 161cm.
I knew Karina & Winter said on knowing bros that they are both 168cm & 164cm respectively but I have always thought Giselle to be taller than 163cm since her legs are so long lol. And of course Ningning the shortest among them which is so cute and small haha.

Yep. There’s a lot of factors that make aespa’s heights look wonky. Heels, insoles, body size, styling, proportions, and Winter’s issue: slouching. Here’s what they really should look like (excluding Karina, the camera angle makes her look giant lol. And if you’re an SNSD or RV fan, this was funny.

Oh no it’s almost all lies. Like, most groups have at least one member that’s straight up capping, usually more. N.Flying’s the only group I can think of where their listed heights match up with reality, because they seem to tower over everyone (except for a couple members of SF9, who are also giants) at music shows.
B-Bomb admitted that for a solid 10 years, 4 members (including him) of Block B had faked their heights by a minimum of 5 cm. He’s 175 cm, he’s always been listed as 180 (it even says that online). U-Kwon who’s been listed as 176 is apparently actually 170-171. Park Kyung who’s supposedly 170 is closer to 165, and Lee Taeil who’s listed as 167 online is apparently no taller than 157-160 (based on estimations and info from those who’ve met him). The latter 3 also religiously used thick-soles shoes and boots and height inserts (Kyung is especially guilty of this— a fan who wanted to gift him shoes when he was a rookie was told to buy a size or two bigger so his inserts could fit). B-Bomb did admit that Zico, PO and Jaehyo are actually as tall as they’re listed (180, 183, and 185 respectively, though people who’ve met them swear they’re taller).
It’s pretty common practice in the industry to just tack on an extra 5 cm or so. It’s just when fans start comparing them with other people that the illusion starts to break down.

I absolutely despise kitten heels so only wear heels that are in the 4-5inch range. Meg always got some tall ass heels on even though she is tall herself. This also probably has to do with her man being fine and around 6’4” so she doesn’t have to succumb to the traditional “need to wear hells but still be shorter than my boyfriend” societal issues.

The mc pushed her up a bit that doesn't count. Her first measurement was kept secret for a reason, they had to measure her 3 times to get her up to 149.9
It's typical for them to add a couple centimeters or so. I met Hyuna in real life. She was wearing heels at the time, so I'd say she was prooobably 5'2" or so. It's not much of an exaggeration imo. But she is SUPER petite, so to me (just under 5'7") she seemed sooooo tiny. I definitely wouldn't put her much shorter than that though.

Not every idol is going to be the same height and yet profiles usually have them all listed as roughly the same, they just put the most 'ideal' height down
Tbh I dont know why this is information that needs to be listed at all (unless the idols want to discuss it) it such a pointless metric, it's not athough I know any of this about people walking around on the street and yet I can still think 'oh they're tall' etc. so I just ignore that those details are available

I find blood type is such a weird thing for western and international stans to get behind as well, thats only something mentioned on korean shows and by idols because of the blood type personalities, which unless you're east asian isn't really a thing anywhere else

They might not have it totally right but I think 165 cm or shorter is really lowballing it. Like NCT Dream repeatedly make fun of and expose how Renjun lies about his height but at 165 Ten would be quite a bit shorter then even Renjun.
