- Trip3910118064910 contributionsThe church is lovely and quiet. It really beats the hustle of the town. The café in the church is clean and welcoming and not to pricey. Lovely jacket potato.Written November 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bill sLondon, UK22 contributionsThis is a lively riverside town especially on a summers day with a pedestrianised centre and riverside of cafes and bars. Cross over the bridge and go left along the riverside path and you have a lovely walk into Hampton bringing you to the front of Hampton Court Palace. If you stay on the town side of the river going right, you walk by the river to Teddington Lock. There is nothing nicer on a sunny day than to be around water and boats unless of course it is sitting in a beer garden with a pint!Written May 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David DDevon, UK20,611 contributionsTuesday afternoon 22nd August and we took a stroll around this historic old market in the heart of Kingston.
Back in the day this was once a bustling market filled with fruit, vegetables, fish and other stalls. It is now predominantly street food stalls.
The triangular shaped market is surrounded by beautiful old Tudor style buildings, mostly shops, worth walking around just to look at the buildings and their ornate fronts.
At the bottom, larger end of the Market stands the impressive Grade II listed, Market House with it's two tall towers, one at each side of the building. It was built in 1840 and served as the town hall until 1935.
The bowed front entrance has balcony above it with a stone balustrade. Standing at the front of the balcony is the guilded statue of Queen Anne, which overlooks the Market.
At the top end of the Market, the apex of the triangle, stands the Shrubsole Memorial. This statue pays tribute to Henry Shrubsole who was mayor of Kingston on three occasions.Written October 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Time required at this place is just 10-15 minutes, only to click pics and then you may go to the town market & riverside which are nearby.Written April 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - amybrushaberLondon, UK277 contributionsThis is a great free place to just “be” with a friend. We sat on a bench along the river and had a delightful afternoon chatting. It is fun to watch boats as well as people walking and cycling on the path to Richmond. There is a bandshell/gazebo that has events in the summer for free. Bring a blanket and it’s your evening sorted.Written June 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- RogerBHeaton, UK3 contributionsThe place is a refurbishment by Kingston Council of a run down piece of brownscape and is today a lovely place to visit. It is well laid out, has lots of seating, flowers, greenery and is an excellent place to take children. There is a cafe on the corner of the garden.

Nevertheless it provides a useful service to the community and should be supported.Written December 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
