The King of Rio has plans to get his hands on the Bantamweight throne. Jose Aldo is scheduled to fight Jonathan Martinez at UFC 301. It is Aldo’s last fight on his UFC contract and will take place on his home turf. While the Brazilian fans would love to give a great farewell, the fighter has some other plans for his career.

Jose Aldo recently talked with SHAK MMA about his upcoming bout and UFC 301 and his plans. During the conversation, the fighter mentioned his ideas to have a last attempt at the UFC Bantamweight gold.

That’s always been my goal. I think that's every fighter's goal is to fight for that championship. I needed my time off and I had my time off. I recovered. Now I'm back in and of course, fighting for the belt and becoming the champion, becoming the best.

Aldo retired from UFC back in 2022 when he lost to Merab Dvalishvili via decision. However, the fighter decided to come back to challenge himself again. Given that UFC 301 is happening in Rio de Janeiro, it’s a special PPV card for the legend of the sport.

The bantamweight division is considered to be one of the most talented out of all in the UFC. All the top fighters in the division are absolute killers and it’s not going to be easy for the Brazilian to make his way through. However, this doesn’t seem to scare the former champion at all.

However, Aldo’s coach, Emerson Falcao has mentioned that the fighter is confident. According to Falcao, Aldo is fully prepared for his opponent and will be looking forward to a knockout finish.

He's a tough opponent. He has a good kick,  he's very versatile. So, we tried to build the training camp around that. Jose Aldo is very well-trained. More importantly, motivated. He's looking for a knockout.

In the vlog series, Aldo looked loose and ready for the fight and claimed that it was going to be an easy win for him. On the other hand, Martinez is currently on a four-fight winning streak. The momentum is with the younger fighter. Nevertheless, the home fans are extremely hyped to see the Brazilian legend fight and he will be cheered irrespective of the outcome of the fight.
