Investigators have identified a man suspected of opening fire at a Kenosha County bar, shooting six people and killing three of them.
Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said Rakayo Vinson, 24, of Racine, was arrested Sunday afternoon.
He was held in the Kenosha County Jail on at least one count of first-degree intentional homicide.
Additional charges were expected to be filed.
Vinson appeared virtually Monday afternoon for a bond hearing.
A court commissioner ordered he be held on $4 million cash.
The shooting happened about 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the Somers House Tavern.
"Mr. Vinson had been involved in a bumping in the tavern, this was a shoulder-to-shoulder situation, that had resulted in a fight occurring. Mr. Vinson had certainly been punched in a fight in the tavern," District Attorney Michael Graveley said of the shooting. "This was literally over nothing, it was literally over a minor dispute."
Investigators said Vinson was kicked out of the bar but returned and opened fire.
Six men were shot.
Two were pronounced dead at the scene.
The third died on the way to the hospital.
Beth said at least 200 pieces of evidence were collected at the scene.
It's not clear how many shots may have been fired.
He added that one victim shot back at Vinson outside the bar.
Graveley said investigators found Vinson's wallet at the scene.
His cousin in Mt. Pleasant called 911 to report his car stolen, Graveley said.
Beth said Vinson was arrested when he returned the car.
It's not clear how he got the 12 miles from the bar to Mt. Pleasant.
Vinson admitted he was at the bar, had a gun and was in a fight, invetigators said.
Graveley said Vinson told investigators he "blacked out and (expletive) went down."
He told the court commissioner Vinson said the gun would never be found.
Friends of the victims told WISN 12 all three victims knew each other.
They were identified Monday as Cedric Gaston, 24, Kevin Donaldson, 22, and Atkeem Stevenson, 26, all of Kenosha.
"These people were targeted, so at the level he knew these three people, it may just be that there was a confrontation in that location and he knew he was coming in for those three people," Beth said.
Deputies said three other men between the ages of 22 and 26 suffered gunshot wounds.
Their names were not released.
A public defender said Vinson may have been acting in self-defense when he fired the shots.
He appeared to have at least one black eye.
Vinson was scheduled to appear virtually Wednesday afternoon for an initial court appearance.
He has not yet entered a plea.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
No other details have been released.
Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information about the investigation was asked to contact the Sheriff's Department at 262-605-5100 or anonymously to Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
