Childhood and youth

Katharine McPhee's birthplace is Los Angeles, California, the United States. Her parents, Daniel McPhee, a professional in television production, and Peisha McPhee welcomed her on March 25, 1984. Interestingly, in 2011 her mom started coaching participants in vocal on the show American Idol. Katharine is not the only child in her family – she grew up alongside an elder sister named Adriana.

As a 12-year-old girl, she alongside her family left for Sherman Oaks, city Los Angeles.

As a kid, she often showed a talent for music, for writing lyrics. Studying at school, McPhee was a star of school performances, often was invited to perform at concerts. Her mother, Peisha, a professional musician, helped Katharine develop her abilities.

2002 is the year of McPhee’s graduation from high school. She entered a university but dropped out and moved back to Los Angeles to pursue the dream of TV-star.

June 2006 was marked by McPhee's contract with several recording companies, including Sony BMG's RCA Records. Besides, she was invited to the J.C. Penney Jam: Concert for America's Children to perform solo with the track 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.' Shortly after, Katharine released the song. It got to the 12th place on the Billboard chart, advancing later to the 4th place and holding it for 60 weeks.

In early 2007, the celebrity presented her first collection entitled 'Katharine McPhee.'. Its first track 'Over It' reached No. 29 on the Billboard Hot chart.

In October 2013 she was photographed publicly kissing her married Smash director, Michael Morris. Morris was then and still is married to actress Mary McCormack and father of three children.

Katharine was romantically linked with her Scorpion co-star Elyes Gabel for almost two years. They parted ways in 2016.

Later the woman got acquainted with professional in music production - David Foster - fans became a witness of their engagement ceremony in June 2018. American singer Josh Groban commented on their engagement: «I wish them nothing but happiness, and I hope it all works out.» They married on June 28, 2019, at the St. Yeghiche Armenian Apostolic Church in Kensington, London.
