Francisca Really fun movie! but it has that goofy humor of steven chow that may not be to everyone's liking, I loved the character's characterization and this more grumpy interpretation of wukong. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/23 Full Review Audience Member humorous story in the continuation of the Monkey king journey as they battle demons and each other Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Journey to the west 3 ..... Please...... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member None of the actors were back as the main 4, Shu Qi appeared but just for Tang Sanzang, the three demons were boiled down to one characteristic except for Wukong, and never touched on their pasts so their characters were incredibly one dimensional. Costume design reverted the three back to more of a demon-like look while it looks cool, doesn't have anything to do with their redemption. The storyline felt more forced if anything while it was an adventure on their way to India, the atmosphere broke the feeling. Tang Sanzang completely changed his character, he didn't hold any of the virtues that he had in the first movie and was cruel to the three which was completely out of character. Aesthetically I enjoyed it but plot wise it was awful, the characters weren't written well as the first one even if KL Hog and Sandy had no speaking lines in the past. At least they had some depth in the first movie with the teacher talking about them. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member It's rubbish, and only managed to draw people to watch because of the director and producer, and because it's Chinese New Year then. It's horrible and I feel cheated. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It's not that good compare to other movies of Stephen Chow, but it's okay to watch Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) This time round, though, there's more high-spirited whimsy than laugh-out-loud humour. Rated: 3/5 Feb 8, 2017 Full Review Jesse Hassenger AV Club If anything, Demons Strike Back is an even zanier and more kid-friendly affair than the Chow original. Yet without Chow's unique strain of silliness, it also feels louder and more antic while covering less ground. Rated: C+ Feb 3, 2017 Full Review Scout Tafoya RogerEbert.com A madcap success on its own bizarre terms and an informative distillation of each auteur's sensibility. Rated: 3/4 Feb 3, 2017 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The kid friendly comical martial arts film draws only a smattering of laughs. Rated: B- Jun 16, 2018 Full Review Sean Gilman MUBI This tension between tradition and subversion results in a curiously unstable film; easy enough to watch in the moment, but unnaturally slippery in meaning. Rated: 4/5 Dec 19, 2017 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Mildly entertaining with dazzling visual spectacle, but more silly, exhausting and outrageous rather than fun or funny.
