Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

The Jewish quarter is not far from the Old Town Square. There are several synagogues and I would recommend the Old - New Synagogue as it is the oldest working synagogue in Central Europe. I wouldn't buy a 'walking tour'. Simply walk the streets and pay to go into the synagogue I recommended.

Beautiful and interesting part of Prague. This Jewish quarter is quite small , but it is full of synangogues, historical buildings, souvenir shops (first seller with Kafka's t-shirts on market was the best), antique shops and also luxury stores. There are also cafés and trdelnik shops. This place is not so overcrowded like other quarters in Prague center. This Jewish quarter is much better than for example Kazimierz in Krakow. Tickets to synagogues are quite expensive and prices in shops are higher, too.

This is an area of Prague sometimes referred to as the Jewish Quarter. I recommend spending at least a half day wandering around the area. We visited the Spanish Synagogue, the Old New Synagogue, and the Jewish Cemetery, and recommend checking out all three. The tickets are a little confusing, so make sure you know what you want to see before you buy a ticket so you get the right kind.

We spent several hours visiting the sites in Josefov. We bought our tickets at the Jewish Museum office on Maiselova and followed the route. We stopped along the way for a snack at the Trdelník & Coffee shop. It was a very interesting and informative day.

I really enjoyed walking round this area and would have liked to have done a formal walking tour and also visited the museums. Instead I had to make do with self guided but managed to see the stunning and historical buildings. You can feel the history here.

Once again I had very little time to visit the Jewish quarter in Prague - but next time I will do a full "visit" - so very shortly - just stopped at Josefov's main points
Took a few pictures of the old Jewish Cemetery from the steps of the Ceremonial hall of the Prague Jewish Burial Society ... and as we passed some pictures from the street and of the Old-New Synagogue - this can be visited for a fee , and also took some pictures of some details on the Jewish Townhall.
Now the Jewish quarter- or what is actually left of it - has much more to offer and I will need to plan more time to spend here.... and I recommend it also to anybody who is interested in history.
Now for sure the Jewish quarter is very different from what has been in medieval times but even than it is worth a visit. With its museum sections, several synagogues and other landmarks.
I'll be back to Prague for sure - and I will allocate more time to Jewish quarter.

I bought the combined ticket to visit all 7 sites for 500Kc and it was definitely worth it and you don't have to queue up to pay at sites. I usually find audio guides really worthwhile but this was expensive and not worth the money.
I spent 4 hours going through all the sites and looked at the Robert Guttmann Gallery at the rear of the Spanish Synagogue as well. Repression of unwanted minorities never goes away. All very moving and the area is interesting to visit. Lucky the buildings and the incredible contents from 1500s through 1940s have been able to be retained.
Absolutely recommended.

The legendary cemetery, the synagogues, the museum. They all deserve a visit.
See it all or just a part, whatever your schedule permits. Josefov is small part of Prague, but important part of its history.
The Jewish population in Prague prior to the Nazi occupation in 1939 was over fifty thousands. Today only few thousands Jews live in Prague.
Many Jewish people travel to Prague to visit this part of town. It is amazing that it all survived. Unlike the thousands and thousands of Jews that perished in the concentration camps, whose names are written on the walls in the Pinkas Synagogue.
The children of Terezin, whose artwork is displayed in the Pinkas synagogue. Heartbreaking!
A combination ticket is perhaps the best value if you have enough time to spend in Prague. It can be used over a period of several days time.
We did come back couple of times and combined our visit to Josefov with a stroll through the neighboring Parizska street.

Check in advance for opening times as the various buildings and museums and the cemetery are not open all day everyday and alas when I was in Prague there was renovation work that meant all interiors and cemetery areas were closed. But it is worth exploring for the architecture of the exterior of buildings, of the synagogues and apartments that have Jewish symbols incorporated. And of course there are guides to tell you about its history form Gollum to the dark days of Nazi occupation and pogrom.

We spent about 3-4 hours here one day and could have easily spent more time exploring the whole area and numerous synagogues. It's hard to express the emotions you will feel as you see the names of those killed in the holocaust painted on the walls of one of the synagogues or the piles and piles of tombstones in the cemetery. Little tip - you can buy official tickets at certain attraction entrances and avoid the long line at the main entrance.

Hell! Please, help me with some information: as a group, we can visit the Jewish quarter without a ticket, just walking through, but, if we want to go inside the buildings we will pay for e ticket, if necessary?

Martin tours do bus trips around Parague, and most of the buses pass through this area. Yuo can also just go to the Old Jewish Quarter, which is near the Old Town Square, and buy your tickets there. However, I'd suggest that you spend a little time walking around the area, and get to see a little more.
