Ali Wong detailed the intense toil filming her new Netflix series, Beef, took on her body during a candid Q&A at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas

In response to a fan's question about how she and costar Steven Yeun unwound after 'performing such explosive anger' on set, the 40-year-old actress said their bodies simply 'shut down.'

'Steven and I both broke out in hives after the show. Mine was on my face. His was all over his body because he's weak like that,' she said, according to Variety.

She continued: 'It definitely took a toll on us, but we didn't even realize until after the show ended. I mean, I won't even talk about what happened to your elbow.'

The stand-up comedian went on to admit that if they both 'knew that was going to happen' she and Yeun, 39, might not have put her 'bodies and minds through' the project.

'Maybe we wouldn't have said yes, but we're really glad we did,' the mother-of-two concluded.

Beef, created Lee Sung Jin, was inspired by his own road rage after a white BMW thant kinked and cursed him out.

'It didn’t end like it did in the show — that’s why I’m here, able to talk to you today — but it definitely made me think about how we live in such subjective realities where we project onto people we don’t know,' he recalled.

During the Q&A, Yeun confessed to following the vehicle out of anger.

According to its synopsis, Beef 'follows two strangers whose lives converge during a road rage incident.'

Wong's latest show comes after recently opening up about her divorce from Justin Hakuta in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter

'I did not expect the announcement to be so widespread, but by far the hardest part about getting divorced was my mother's reaction,' she said.

The Always Be My Maybe star - who dazzled in a unique sequined black coat and skirt ensemble and Lele Sadoughi earrings - then recalled that her mother did not want her daughter to go through with the divorce.

The comedian stated that 'she looked me in the eye and asked, "Can you just wait until I die?" She was literally asking me to not live a life for myself. But she's 82, what do I expect?'

Wong went on to remark that 'it was still really f***ing hard dealing with all her fear of the shame it would bring her.'

The actress also stated that, after the news of her split circulated through Chinese- and Vietnamese-centric newspapers, her mother was contacted for comment by several sources and was able to work through her issues.

The performer recalled that, 'She died a million deaths in one day and then woke up the next day and was like, "I survived."'

Wong also stated that her mother was very close to her former son-in-law, stating that 'she still sees Justin a ton.'

The actress then remarked that she and Hakuta remained on good terms following their split and were in constant contact.

'We're really, really close; we're best friends. We've been through so much together. It's a very unconventional divorce,' she said.

Wong and her former husband initially met at a mutual friend's wedding in 2010 and began dating not long after their first encounter.

The former couple welcomed a daughter named Mari, aged seven, in 2015, and they added another daughter named Nikki, aged five, to their family two years later.

The two eventually announced that they had split up after eight years of marriage in April of last year.

The actress went on to begin a short-lived relationship with Bill Hader that amicably ended after just a few months.
