What happened after they all were taken?
Victor Kugler Johannes Kleiman
Even though they were not Jewish they were arrest for helping Jewish people. The Nazi arrest both Kugler and Kleiman then sent them to Amersfoorts. Kleiman was released a week later because of his poor health. He later died in 1959. Kugler managed to escape imprisonment in 1945. He moved to Canada and died in 1989.
Miep Santrouschitz Gies Elisabeth (Bep) Voskujil Wijk
They were both not caught for helping Anne and her family. Bep lived in Amsterdam until she died in 1983. Miep lived in Amsterdam with her husband Jan. Then decided to move to the Netherlands until she died in 2010 at the age of 100.
Mrs.Van Daan
Transported from Auschwitz to bergen-Belsen from there to Buchenwald, then Theresienstadt in 1945. Then to another concentration camp after that. She did die but the date of her death is unknown.
Mr.Van Daan
According to Otto Frank, Mr. Van Daan was gassed to death in Auschwitz in 1944. This was shortly before the gas chambers were dismantled.
Peter Van Daan
Peter was forced to take part in the “death march” Auschwitz where he died in 1945. This was three days before the camp was liberated.
Mr.Dussel
Died in December of 1944 in Neuengamme concentration camp.
Edith Frank
Died in 1945 in Auschwitz-Birkenau from hunger and exhaustion.
Margot and Anne Frank
Bergen-Belsen concentration camp is where both girls died from typhus epidemic that broke out in the camp.
Otto Frank
He was the only one to survive the concentration camps. Once the Auschwitz camp was liberated he went back to Amsterdam. In 1953 Otto moved to Switzerland and remarried until he died in 1980. After he got out of concentration camp he devoted his life on sharing Anne’s message and her diary to the whole world.
