Funny and heartwarming, Alexa and Katie follows two best friends about to start high school.
The two titular characters are played by Paris Berelc and Isabel May respectively.
However, Alexa is undergoing treatment for cancer.
According to Netflix: “The show’s star is Alexa and Katie’s friendship.
“Whether it be at school, at home, or in the hospital, they are by each other’s side through thick and thin, serving as role models for modern-day female friendships.”

Alexa Mendoza - Paris Berelc
Disney star Paris Berelc plays protagonist Alexa Mendoza.
Despite the fact that she is undergoing cancer treatment, her outgoing personality and enthusiasm for life never falters, especially with her loyal, quirky, and awkwardly adorable best friend Katie by her side.
The two are facing starting high school together with the added challenge of a cancer diagnosis.
Alexa also has amazing support from her mother Lori.
Berelc, 19, is well-know for playing Skylar Storm on Disney XD Original series, Mighty Med.
She has also appeared in other Disney series Lab Rats: Elite Force and in the movie Invisible Sister and is due to star in movie #SquadGoals later this year.
Katie Cooper - Isabel May
Newcomer Isabel May plays other title character and Alexa’s best friend Katie.
Speaking about her onscreen friendship that the show centres around, May said: “When women are successful and they’re happy with what they’re doing, that’s always important.”
She added in an interview with Refinery 29: “That’s what Alexa and Katie represent really. That’s the core of their friendship — they want the best for one another always.”
This is the 17-year-old’s first acting job.

Lori Medsoza - Tiffani Thiessen
Tiffani Thiessen of Saved by the Bell fame plays Alexa’s overprotective but loving mother, Lori.
“I was definitely apprehensive at first — I haven't played the mother of two teenagers yet so that was a big thing to swallow for me,” Thiessen told Bustle on taking on the role.
Apart from Saved By the Bell, Thiessen is also known for playing Valerie Malone on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Elizabeth Burke in White Collar.
Dave Mendoza - Eddie Shin
Alexa’s father is played by Eddie Shin who has recently starred in Westworld and the Man in the High Castle.
He is also known for playing Henry in Gilmore Girls.
Other cast members include Emery Kelly as Lucas Mendoza, Finn Carr as Jack Cooper and Jolie Jenkins as Jennifer Cooper.
Also featuring in the season are Kerri Medders ad Gwenny Thompson, Merit Leighton as Hannah, Jack Griffo as Dylan and Iman Benson as Reagan.
Alexa and Katie is currently streaming on Netflix.
