Get this 3-book box set for only $0.99, for a limited time! When's the last time a game started with a real-life gunfight? In the industrial wasteland of future America, Solomon Herrick spends his day wandering the streets and getting into trouble. Staying one step ahead of the local PD, his life is mostly spent immersed in history or aimless exploring -- until Shyft comes along. Whether that's a good thing or not is still up in the air... Shyft 2.0, an immersive open-world RPG, just entered beta, and though Solomon Herrick wasn't on the list, his friends knew a guy who could get them in. A chase and a gunfight later and Sol is deposited into the world with nothing but a few rags on his back and a nearby stick to defend himself. With his friends gone, no knowledge of the game world and zero guidance available, Solomon will have to rely on his ability to learn fast if he wants to not only figure out how to play the game, but figure out how to get out - if he even can. Shyft is a new Gamelit / LitRPG series created by Mike Kraus and Justin Bell, writing under the M Kraus and J Donald pen names. Shyf is a crunchy LitRPG series and currently has three full-length novels available to read, though two more shorts (available for free through signing up for the Shyft newsletter at www.shyft.gg) exist and a range of soft and crunchy stories are already planned for this vast, varied and complex universe. This box set contains Book 1 (Defender of Gallowind), Book 2 (Stealthcaster) and Book 3 (Shadows of Elderand) and is perfect for LitRPG and gamelit readers both new and seasoned.

Just same ole same ole. Nothing here to read..move along. There were pieces and parts that seemed interesting but the more I read the more disinterested I became.

Good story, near characters. Horrid proofreading.

Nice progression of characters, good description with a clear visual style. It reads well and doesn't get too bogged down in world building or description a good balance is kept between the two. That said, the writers know that pummel means punch or hit and even used it correctly twice... While using "pummel" instead of the word "pommel" dozens of times. Another example is the word "clamor" instead of the word "clamber". Please find a proofreader!

Badly written.

Finished the first book. This review covers that and only that, I will edit it as I finish the rest. This was horribly written. Skills that appear out of nowhere. Gamers that have played together but have no idea of there roles in battle. Enemies that have been dodging and been hardly injured by attacks getting hit from behind for massive damage by one was hit. This whole thing feels unplanned. It all falls together as needed via bad writing. The whole story and all the characters are lacking in direction and continuity.

A good RPG read

Really enjoyed all three books. Really like how the authors combined old school RPG stats with current fiction. Some battles seemed to drag on, however; that's what happens in games as well. A good all around story.

RPGlit is lit.

I blew through all 3 books in no time. I gave 4 stars only because of all the small spelling errors through out all 3 books. Otherwise I loved them.
