Came up with grandchildren. Asked for a room close to the elevators. Guess what we got, a room almost at the other end of the building. Guess what was next door in that last room... Workmen busting through the wall to the new addition. Any kind of "quiet time" or afternoon nap was not going to happen, in addition to all the noise and banging, the in-room maid service has been suspended due to Covid. However, at this time masks are not necessary....? So if you don't mind overflowing waste baskets, getting your own towels, and water, while having your T.V. volume blasting, remember there's still free soda in the casino.... Oh and if you want an after lunch ice-cream or a Starbucks drink, the snack bar now closes at 1:00 P.M. But the cost of the room hasn't changed.

My husband and I love to come here on a date night away from the kids and get a hotel room. Spend some money at the casino, buy some drinks, and have a nice dinner. The grandparents took the kids for a sleepover and we packed a bag to head here for a nice adult evening together. When we showed up at the front door we asked the nice lady at the door if face shields were okay as we are not able to wear a face mask but have the full face shield. She kindly radioed in to ask and said that she was told it was fine. We walked in to the casino to check out the slot machines and the black jack tables. Security came up to us and said that we must wear a face mask or leave the property and that these orders were coming from his supervisor. We told him about asking before entering and to just check one more time. He did and said that the face masks must be worn or we had to leave. We did not give him any trouble and left quietly. We do not care to come back and give this casino any more of our money and will find other casinos to have fun at in the future. All the staff was pleasant to deal with but they need to be on the same page across the board. We were glad we did not book a room here in advance this time.

I don’t recommend The Island Resort and Casino! I used to love this casino and resort but after last weekend’s experience I will not be back. The reservation got messed up and when I contacted customer Service I was told two different lies regarding the reason for the reservation mess up on The Island’s end not mine. Horrible customer service from the check in staff and the customer Service rep who emailed me the lies. If you want a reservation mess up and horrible customer service then stay there.

The casino is small, mostly electronic machines, a few table games for 21 and craps. The roulette table was closed so no fun there. They have a snack bar inside, and its attached to the island hotel, which has a concert venue. I busted while my girl hit a few pots so we left being up.

Played Bingo which was great even though we didn't win. Still fun.
Played in the casino that night and the next day. The place was filthy. NEVER saw one employee wiping down any machines during the 8 hours we were playing. The next morning - the same machines were still filthy with fingerprints and greasy/slimy. Disgusting. They now have a "smoking lounge" and that room was also filthy with ashtrays never being emptied and tables never being cleaned. To their credit, the next morning someone was in that smoking room picking it up. We never go to a casino with the intentions of getting rich, although it is always fun to win. Most times you win a little to keep playing. Absolutely nothing on this trip. When I think back to our visit, I realize I never saw one other person winning either. No one. No one cashing in slips or in line at the cashier cage. Win or lose we usually always have fun. We will not be going back to this place.

Don’t get food at the coral reef you can get better food at the school sports games. Probably the most stingy casino I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot of them.
The pool area is a joke too, maybe ok for kids. Look around when you pull in and all the new buildings going up. They pay fines instead of paying out to the community. Place is a joke compared to most casinos.

Brought in a bus with Couples and Singles for a weekend.Love the casino and hotel, But the new Waterpark was not thought thur. Kids run in the casino taking the free soda. Parents sit at machine with child on lap! And Security is overwhelmed. Restaurants are around the casino so families have to walk in casino to get to them. Water park is overcrowded, to the point unsafe! This place had great entertainment for Adults on weekends, but it’s not going to work with kids all around.
Pool and Hot tub, sauna are Adults only. But pool heater has been broke for over a month!
Check in on Saturday was ridiculous. Over 40 people standing in line! We waited an hour and a half for our rooms!
The staff does their best but way understaffed.

Friendly staff but this is the tightest casino in the UP. If the other ones were closer I’d never go to the Island. They’d rather pay the gaming commission fine than pay the people. Don’t waste your money as the players club rewards are pathetic too. The rooms are so full and boring it’s just a bed to sleep in. I know former employees that tell me go anywhere but this casino.

The place is always clean. Well maintained and entire crew is awesome. Food is outstanding in every dinning area. Gaming area and machine choice are great. It is the best big little casino i've been too. I hear the golf is great too!!!

Both stayed at the hotel and played in the casino.
Room was nice, quiet, nothing fancy but solid.
Casino was set up well, quite a few table games and slots. As nice as any other in the UP if not better.
Wouldn’t hesistate to return.

Children are not allowed in casinos, even a 15 yr. old is not legally allowed to be hanging around..Children can be with their parents when passing through, but should not be spending
time without their parents. Anyone under 21 yrs. old is not allowed..... If attending a concert, it would be best to call the hotel/casino to see what their specific rules are.

I have not been to your casino in a couple of years. Would I be considered a new member? I understand you have made major cutbacks and people on the bus trips are not happy. Please advise me as to the cutbacks . Thank you

You may still be on record but will certainly need a new card! Island used to be one of the best casinos for promotions and comps, but over the years they have been cutting back drastically! And now as of October 1st they have cut back on promo money by about 40% which is why many bus travelers are complaining! It seems they want to cater to the high rollers which means they need less clients and can cut back on personnel! Probably still somewhat a good deal for new customers, but us old ones know what has been taken away over the last few years and are looking toward other casinos who are improving their comps and promotions!
