- tinusTrnava, Slovakia8 contributionsThis castle is very pretty a lot to see there. Tour was about 45 minutes. Our tour guide Frederika was very kind and communicative. - Bafs BLondon, UK73 contributionsA very pretty place and interesting places to stop by. The church and castle were worth seeing- castle is up a slight hill but all walkable areas.
It did rain on my visit day but still
A manged to have a nice afternoon.
I took a guided day trip from Munich but unless you really want a guided tour it is something you can do independently.
Bit your train tickets in advance and most of the area is walkable and it will make a pleasant day out of city of Munich- all near Nuremberg station and will be cheaper than the guided tour from Munich.Written January 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We stayed for about an hour – not enough time to go through all the exhibits or hear the testimonies, but (barely) enough to get a sense for what was there. What I had not realized before the visit was the extent to which the Nuremberg trials continued after the highest-ranking accused officials were tried – the trials continued for over another year, which meant that there were many opportunities for “new” lawyers to gain experience in what has become the field of international criminal law. Highly recommend a longer visit.Written May 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Travel with SeanMadison, WI265 contributionsAlte Mainbrücke was the first bridge built over the Main in Würzburg. It has been rebuilt several times over the centuries, most recently in the 18th Century. Now it is a popular place to enjoy being outside, meet up with friends/loved ones and maybe have a glass of Frankonian wine (there is a shop on the edge of the bridge that sells glasses of Frankonian wine).Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CJTravelerTexasTexas9,003 contributionsOn a recent trip to the Bavarian capital, I made it a point to visit Lenbachhaus, a building housing the Städtische Galerie (Municipal Gallery); I had previously visited this museum a number of years ago upon the recommendation of a person employed by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Photographs are permitted in this museum. I found this visit as enjoyable as the first time I experienced this museum.Written April 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WriterJaneNew York69 contributionsI was a little surprised how many animals were out on exhibit in mid-December, but temps were in the low 40s... and most have fur coats. The most shocking and distinctive note was visitors walking dogs around the zoo. Some of the animals were NOT having it, or maybe they were jealous?!?Written December 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jana JJZell am See, Austria6 contributionsPlease consider that this is a guided tour and there are only some 60 places per time slot. You should definitely buy tickets in advance and come at least 20 mins earlier, as there's a short walk from parking lot to the entrance and you need extra time to pick up and put on the suit.
This is a real mine, not some adventure park, so if you are claustrophobic or anxious about going deep into the earth, just skip it!
Our kids (and we as well) found the train ride and the slides exciting and the mirror lake just stunning. The tour was very informative and interesting and our guide Steffi very funny! We loved it!
The only thing I don't like is that you are not allowed to take photos, but have to buy official photos if you want to have some memories...Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I especially enjoyed the green and blue colors of the water with the mountains in the background! We rented a rowboat for 13 euros for one hour, note one hour is the maximum time for boat rental and you’re not allowed to land on the islands. I recall canoes rented for $100+ an hour at Lake Louise in Banff so was pleased the hourly rental was a bargain here. It was quite crowded with people on Saturday but pleasantly sparse on Monday.Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jbg74Saint Paul, MN1,057 contributionsThis is the most famous building in Bamberg and a common German tourist photo. The building is beautiful and well worth checking out.Written October 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eileen MNorth Carolina19 contributionsBeautiful cathedral - rivals that of Cologne, Notre Dame, etc. Visited in shoulder season and a day right before cruise ships came in so was able to enjoy the serenity - if you are there in high season, go early as you will enjoy it so much more.Written March 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JohnUKLondon, UK1,038 contributionsWe travelled by public transport from Munich to Prien. When the steam train doesn’t run from the town station there is a bus from the station to the lake which is to be recommended. If you have a Bavaria Ticket the bus is included.
The boat trip was very pleasant and the boat can carry hundreds of passengers.
We had booked an English tour online and there were only 8 people on it. Our guide was excellent and easy to understand.
The interiors are marvellous as is the museum downstairs which is included in the ticket.
I can imagine it gets busy in the summer so would suggest an out of season.
The building is wonderful but I found it a very sad palace. King Ludwigshafen only spent ten days there.Written April 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Nice stop.Written April 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SunofAtonNottingham, UK9 contributionsFairly easy to get to. We went by car to the bottom station however there was a frequent bus service from Salzburg. Great views from the top of two valleys. We ate at the restaurant which was great value and fresh and tasty.Written March 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traveler OWashington DC, DC1,122 contributionsWorth seeing when the time changes on the hour. A nice sight in the city central square. Be careful with belongings when you're in the square though.Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dobran OHannover, Germany13 contributionsThis was one of the best cultural history museums I've visited. The exhibitions cover a wide range of topics spanning thousands of years, from Prehistory to the 20th century. Thus, one can learn about the political history of German-speaking people, military history, religion, crafts and arts, medicine, etc.
Some exhibitions were closed due to renovations, but that shouldn't be a problem since it's impossible to see all exhibitions in one day (I mean seeing, not just walking through them)
The exhibitions are very detailed, there's a lot of information and what surprised me the most was that all of it was in English as well. One might expect to find this in a big city such as Berlin or Munich, but for a city of Nuremberg's size, this sure was a pleasant surprise.
There are audio guides that I haven't used since that would have only taken us longer.
Only one thing that could be improved in my opinion: more English books in the museum shop. Also, maybe more souvenirs specific to the exhibitions, since most of the souvenirs there were quite generic to other museums.Written March 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
