The following is an unofficial translation of an address given by His Eminence Angelo Cardinal Amato at the Pontifical University Antonianum on the apparitions of Our Lady in Fatima, Portugal. The address was published in Italian on the web site of L’Osservatore Romano from which this translation was made.
1. When I was the Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, I had the privilege to have in hand and read original manuscripts regarding the secrets of Fatima and their message. I have pondered them for a long time because they cast a light of faith and hope on the sad events of the last century and beyond.
Recall that the twentieth century, predicted as a time dominated by reason and brotherhood among peoples, was, in fact, a tragic period for Christianity, persecuted and oppressed in many parts of the world. Without considering the two World Wars, the most tragic stations of this evangelical Via Crucis were sequentially the Armenian genocide, the Mexican repression, the Spanish persecution, the Nazi massacres, Communist slaughter, and, in this first part of the third millennium, Islamist persecution. There are millions of victims of malignant ideologies, which have generated and generate more conflicts, hatreds and divisions.
How often says Pope Francis, the Church today is the church of martyrs, of those Christians who, unarmed, are routinely killed solely for hatred to their unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The message of Fatima, in a visionary way, evokes this drama, lifting the veil on concrete historical events, where the benevolent Providence of God is opposed to the malicious will of evil that dwells within the enemy of good who dared to tempt Jesus and continues to tempt Jesus’ holy Church today, instilling feelings of enmity and death in the hearts of humans.[1]
Fatima, with its famous secret, is undoubtedly the most prophetic of modern apparitions, with specific references to wars, divisions, and tragedies.
2. The secret is composed of three parts.[2] I must say that there is no fourth secret nor are there other hidden secrets.[3] The first two parts were written by Sister Lucia, one of the three seers of Fatima in 1941 (with some additions made in 1951). These parts have been published and known.
What is it? These first parts contain the vision of hell, described as a great underground sea of fire, in which were immersed demons and souls emitting shrieks and groans of pain and despair, that horrified and made [the seers] tremble with fear.
The vision is accompanied by the words of the Madonna that, to save the souls of sinners, she issues an invitation to establish in the world devotion to her Immaculate Heart.
There is also mention of the Second World War, the request for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation of the First Saturdays: “If my requests are heeded,” says the Blessed Virgin, “Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and various nations will be annihilated. Finally, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, which will be converted and the world will be granted a period of peace.”[4]
3. The third part of the secret, also written by Sister Lucia on January 3, 1944, “by order of the Bishop of Leiria and the Most Holy Mother,” was not published. At the behest of Sister Lucia it could be opened only after 1960, because then it might be better understood. This is why this part was kept at first by the Bishop of Leiria and then, from April 4, 1957, kept at the Secret Archives of the then Holy Office. In 1959, the envelope containing the third part of the secret was brought to Pope John XXIII, who decided not to reveal the contents. A few years later, on March 27, 1965, Pope Paul VI read the contents and also decided not to reveal the text and returned the envelope to the Holy Office.
4. Pope John Paul II, after the attack of May 13, 1981, requested and read the third part of the secret. For the Polish Pope, it was the turning point of his pontificate. In fact, he made Mary’s presence the compass of the Church’s pilgrimage in history. It was the extraordinary realism of the prophetic apparitions of Fatima that struck Pope Wojtyła, who, in 1994, reflecting on the example of the unexpected collapse of Marxism in Eastern Europe, said:
“And what are we to say of the three children of Fatima who suddenly, on the eve of the outbreak of the October Revolution [in 1917], heard: “Russia will convert” and “In the end, my Heart will triumph”…? They could not have invented those predictions. They did not know enough about history or geography, much less the social movements and ideological developments. And nevertheless it happened just as they had said.”[5]
And to confirm his conviction, the Pope added that “it was necessary for the assassination attempt to be made in St. Peter’s Square precisely on May 13, 1981, the anniversary of the first apparition at Fatima—so that all could become more transparent and comprehensible, so that the voice of God which speaks in human history through the “signs of the times” could be more easily heard and understood.”[6]
5. After reading the third part, Pope John Paul II immediately thought of the consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, preparing himself an act of trust, which was celebrated on June 7, 1981 in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. This act was repeated by him in Fatima on May 13, 1982. On March 25, 1984, in St. Peter’s Square, the Pope in spiritual union with all the bishops of the world, previously convoked, again entrusted to the Immaculate Heart of Mary all men and peoples. This solemn and universal act of consecration was, in a letter from Sister Lucia dated November 8, 1989, considered as corresponding to the will of Our Lady.
6. On May 13, 2000, Pope John Paul II, speaking through Cardinal Angelo Sodano, expressed the will to make public the third part of the secret, entrusting the content and an initial interpretation to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. This part was revealed to the little shepherds on July 13, 1917 in the Cova da Iria (Fatima). Here is the content, as it was written by Sister Lucia on January 3, 1944 and published by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the year 2000:
“After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, Penance, Penance!’. And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it’ a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father’. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.”[7]
7. In an interview that took place in April, 2000 and which was willed and approved by the Pope, Msgr. Tarcisio Bertone, who was then Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, asked Sister Lucia for some clarifications.
The first [clarification] concerns the literary genre of the vision. First of all, the seer “agreed with the interpretation that the third part of the ‘secret’ was a prophetic vision, similar to those in sacred history.”[8] She repeated her conviction that the vision of Fatima concerns above all the struggle of atheistic Communism against the Church and against Christians, and describes the terrible sufferings of the victims of the faith in the twentieth century.
When asked: “Is the principal figure in the vision the Pope?”, Sister Lucia replied at once that it was, adding: “We did not know the name of the Pope; Our Lady did not tell us the name of the Pope; we did not know whether it was Benedict XV or Pius XII or Paul VI or John Paul II; but it was the Pope who was suffering and that made us suffer too.”[9]
About the Pope who, shot to death and falls to the ground, Sister Lucia, referring to Mary’s protection in the confrontation of John Paul II, was in full agreement with the Pope’s claim that “it was a mother’s hand that guided the bullet’s path and in his throes the Pope halted at the threshold of death”[10]
8. In a comment to the above, the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, said that Fatima helps us “to understand the signs of the times and to respond to them rightly in faith.”[11] The same Cardinal then offered some lines of interpretation of the “secret.”
As for the first part, he was to note that the children have a vision of hell. That their exposure to this terrible scene takes place to save souls through devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. With this, the Lady means to invite [people] to have an attitude of faith and obedience to God.[12]
Then, the Cardinal believed that the key to the secret is the cry: “Penance, Penance, Penance!”
Moving on to illustrate the individual images, Ratzinger affirms that the angel with the flaming sword is the looming threat of judgment on the world, which could be incinerated in a sea of fire prepared by man himself, with his inventions of death.
The second image, in contrast to the first, shows that the force that opposes the destruction is the splendor of the Mother of God. The scenario, then, is the free choice of man between good and evil: “the future is not in fact unchangeably set, and the image which the children saw is in no way a film preview of a future in which nothing can be changed.”[13]
The meaning of the vision is, then, to arouse the forces of good that are always in time to fight the powers of evil.
The vision, then, of the city in ruins, of people among the corpses walking toward the cross, of the Bishop dressed in white (“we had the impression that it was the Holy Father”) describes the Via Crucis of the Church in the twentieth century, a period of persecution, suffering extreme martyrdom. In addition, the Bishop dressed in white can recall several popes, beginning with Pius X to John Paul II.
Concerning the vision of the Pope who is killed along with the martyrs, Cardinal Ratzinger asks: “When, after the attempted assassination on 13 May 1981, the Holy Father had the text of the third part of the “secret” brought to him, was it not inevitable that he should see in it his own fate?”[14]
The maternal hand, which diverted the bullet without killing the Pope, indicates that there is no immutable destiny and that the power of faith and prayer can influence history: prayer is more powerful than the bullets of a gun.
The vision ends with the Angels, sprinkling souls with the blood of Christ Crucified, indicating that the martyrdom of the witnesses to the faith is carried out in solidarity with the passion of Christ and becomes one with it. The blood of the martyrs, as well as the blood of Christ, makes the Church fruitful. They are accents of hope. From the blood of Christ and the witness of the martyrs comes a renewing force that is continually rejuvenating the Church.
9. Two considerations on the vision. First, the secret of Fatima opened the curtain on the real opposition, on the plane of being and acting, between Mary, all-holy and efficacious cooperator of Christ, and the enemy of the good, the serpent (Gn 3:14-15), the Red Dragon, Satan, the devil (Revelation 12:1-9), the Antichrist (1 John 2:18; 2 Jn 1:7).
In history we must recognize, in fact, the presence of the action of evil on individuals and peoples. Humanity is constantly seduced by the adversary of the good, always ready to make it fall into the abyss of perdition. But indeed, the Son of God appeared to destroy the works of the devil (cf. 1 Jn 3:8).
The late Stephen De Fiores, in one of his posthumous writings on the mystery of evil in relation to Mary, affirmed: “There is little about which to joke: in the opportune time for idols, one needs vigilance, sobriety, strength, […] and together with the first Christians, to fight Satan in all the forms in which he manifests himself.”[15] And in this fight, Mary, fully involved in the saving work of Christ, cooperates efficaciously with her divine Son against Satan. In doing so, she fights the prince of darkness, “taking the side of Christ as the New Eve in the battle against evil, sin and death.”[16] She participates in the victorious outcome of the redemption of Christ, who conquered sin and the Evil One: “The entire historical event, of faith and of Mary of Nazareth’s mission, is a perennial witness to the power and salvific concreteness of grace poured out, sine fine dicentes, of the Holy Trinity.”[17]
Mary is the Stella Maris, who accompanies the Church and humanity in the tempestuous crossing of history, arousing in the hearts of the faithful energies of good that neutralize and conquer the devastating assaults of men and perverse ideologies.
It resides in that, the charisma of Fatima, which is a gift of the Triune God so that humanity and the Church become ever more aware of the struggle between good and evil and of the inevitable victory of grace over sin.
10. The second consideration concerns the calls contained in the message of Fatima. Sister Lucia helps by giving us a list. She, in fact, sees in the vision of Fatima a number of calls, all converging to work the good. There is the call to faith, worship of God, to hope, the love of God, forgiveness, prayer, sacrifice, participation in the Eucharist, intimacy with the Triune God, daily recitation of the Rosary, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, meditation on eternal life, the apostolate, perseverance in good, to stop offending God, the sanctification of the family, the perfection of Christian life, the life of full consecration to God, to holiness, to follow the path of heaven.[18]
I choose two calls that seem relevant and are about forgiveness and holiness. “Forgiveness,” says Sister Lucia, “urges us to ask God’s pardon for our brothers and for ourselves; for those who do not believe and for those who do; for those who do not adore and those who bow down in worship before God; for those who do not hope and for those who have every confidence; for those who do not love and for those who practice charity.”[19] The seer knows that forgiveness requires continual sacrifice and mortification. Therefore she urges [us] to silence the cry of the rebellion of one’s wounded and offended self-love,[20] remembering the word that Jesus said to Peter, to forgive, that is, not seven times, but seventy times seven (Mt 18:21-22). This is the best preparation for the upcoming jubilee of mercy.
The second call, valid for all the baptized, but above all for the consecrated, regards sanctity. In the Marian apparitions there is always a call not only to penance, prayer, and mercy, but also to holiness. The All-Holy one, in fact, calls Christians to holiness. The duty to be saints binds [us] “to be clothed with supernatural life, to impart a supernatural character to all our actions, in other words, to be holy because God is holy. This duty obliges us to live in the shadow of the holiness of God or, to put it another way, by following the path that God has mapped out for us to be holy and to be with Him….”[21]
Sister Lucia adds that this is particularly true for consecrated persons who “are raised to a higher level on account of the holiness of the state of life which they have embraced. By turning their backs on the things of earth, they have placed themselves in a particular state of readiness to correspond with the working of God’s grace in them. By giving themselves to God in love, they offer to Him, once and for all, a holocaust of the whole of themselves. Now, this act is of itself capable of raising them to a life of constant intimacy with God and of perfect love, provided that such consecrated souls have given themselves completely, without restriction or reservation.”[22]
11. The vision of Fatima lifts the veil on the hell that exists on earth, but also offers the consoling prophecy of the heavenly fatherland. In fact, when the little shepherds asked the beautiful Lady where she came from, she replied: “I am from Heaven.” And when they asked if they too would go to Heaven, the Madonna replied that they too would go to heaven. Sister Lucia says in this regard: “If God had created us merely in order to live out, on this earth, the few days that we spend here in the midst of toil, suffering and affliction that all of us, one way or another, have got to endure, then we could say that our life had no meaning, since it was destined to end in the dust of the earth from which we were made. But God, in his goodness, must have had greater purposes in mind, and his Love could not be content with this. We are the masterpiece of his love, since He created us to share in the immensity of his Life.”[23]

Because She knew that Vatican 2 would be the beginning of the destruction of Her Sons Church. It would give Satan the opening he needed and then the flood gates would open. The rumblings of V2 started in the 50’s. The time Communism was spreading it’s evil ways. The Council met from 1962 to 1965. Consecrating Russia after the damage was done doesn’t make sense. It implicates the hierarchy of the Vatican. That’s why the Popes could not do what was requested by Mary. If it had been done before 1960 V2 doesn’t happen. Many Catholics are being brainwashed by this Communist/Satanist propaganda and lies. The true 3rd Secret hasn’t been released either.
JDumon is 100% right. HIs words are without guile. No fooling around with diversion. Russia has not been consecrated. Mary has been disobeyed by these popes, and Jesus still obeys her as He did in His mortal life. Are these popes greater than Jesus? The Second Secret ends with “The Dogma of Faith will always be preserved in Portugal” and Sister Lucia added the word “etc” leading into the Third Secret. “Etc” what? Where is the message? All we have is the vision revealed. No message from Our Lady. This is deception. Bertone did not tell the truth nor did he give the words of Sister Lucia that he decided not to give from his long interview with her.

by us you are AWAITING.” don’t you understand?
Fr Amorth recently revealed that many high ranked cardinals and advisors to the Pope JPII pressured him not to consecrate Russia but the World.
And they succeeded.
Russia didn’t convert and the period of peace wasn’t given.
Pope JPII lacked courage. If he truly was the boss in the Vatican, why couldn’t he utter the word “Russia”?
And he didn’t order the bishops to publicly join him on the same day, either in Rome or in their own cathedrals. He “invited” them and they “morally” joined him. Certainly very silent, these individual consecrations of Russia, wouldn’t you say?
Why not read the most recent book “A Pathway under the Gaze of Mary” put out by the sisters who lived with Lucia before making your uninformed comments.
As to Russia not being converted we have in our parish a priest from Poland who was a priest in Russia for several years. Just a few days ago (May 13, 2015 to be precise) he told us that Russia is very much converting but that full conversion is a slow process. So
contrary to some opinions on this post Our Lady because of the Consecration done by John Paul II in 1984 is fulfilling her promise.
Plus as mentioned the 1984 Consecration was accepted by heaven.
Fr. Amorth is not the Magisterium and his opinions are just that his opinions. That is not to say there are not Masson’s operating within the Church. It’s obvious there are wolves in sheep’s clothing. But this is not any different than among the twelve apostles there was JUDAS a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
I would suggest all of you quit harping on words and start living the message of Fatima which includes the “Five First Saturday’s of Reparation” then you will see not only the full conversion of Russia but the conversion of
the whole world.
Iggram, the conversion of Russia according to Sr Lucy must be a conversion to the CATOLIC FAITH. Sr Lucy spoke of a “miracle of conversion”. The simple revival of the orthodox faith cannot be considered as a conversion. It is merely the result of the end of the communist persecutions.
And what about the “period of peace” our Lady promised?
Regarding the 1984 consecration purportdelly accepted by Heavens, how can you explain that Sr Lucy said the contrary for at least 4 years? There are a lot of testimonials, press interviews, declarations, etc… until suddenly Sr Lucy changed her mind and ceased speaking no more.
Indeed she was ORDERED to shut up by her hierarchy. The late Abbé de Nantes was told by the local bishop Do Amaral that he was entrusted by the Vatican bureaucrats to convey the order to Sr Lucy to SHUT UP about the Fatima apparitions..
Anyways, all the consecrations are “accepted by Heavens” so far as the aim of these consecrations is worthy to be consecrated.
When I consecrate myself or my family to our Lady, I don’t need Sr Lucy’s opinion to be certain that my consecration was “accepted by Heavens”.
Certainly the 1984’s consecration of the world by JPII was accepted by Heavens. There is no doubt.
The new biography addresses this question of the five years between 1984-1989.
In all charity, you might want to read the book before continuing arguing to the contrary.
Let’s get one thing clear–Sister Lucia stated that the consecration of Russia was accomplished by the action of John Paul II on March 25, 1984. If anyone knew it was Sister Lucia – she received the message from Mary.
The Holy See, at the revelation of the Third Secret on June 26, 2000, indicated that the consecration had been accomplished. Sister Lucia expressed her agreement.
As you can see, those that allege that Russia has not been properly consecrated must say that Sister Lucia, the recipient of Mary’s message, was either wrong, deceived, or performing some sort of mental reservation to deceive everyone on the matter. One must also say that Cardinal Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI, used extended mental reservation to deceive the world in this matter on June 26, 2000 and ever since.
Keep in mind that we the laity have our own “Fatima responsibility” – to pray the Rosary daily and keep the First Saturday’s devotion. The whole “Russia question” must include the laity’s embrace of the Rosary and true devotion to Mary. She desires that our hearts be consecrated to the Sacred Heart through he Immaculate Heart.
What did the 1984 Consecration do? The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary gave people the right to free will, to make their own choice. In other words, it now gave them the freedom to go to church, go to Confession, whereas before the regime they were under was one of fear, fear of going to church, fear of religion. The consecration opened this up so that they were free to openly believe— to do what they wanted. So the consecration opened up for them a freedom of religion where they can make their own free choice.
By the way where in the message of Fatima does Our Lady say Russia must become Catholic?
You say she was told to shut up. Prove it by producing a valid document from the Vatican saying she was. There are many phony voices out there claiming all sorts of ridiculous things. Plus I agree with Harry Flynn–read the book before arguing to the contrary.

Have you heard about that Iggram? Our Lady performed the miracle of the sun (through God’s power of course) in order to authenticate the 1917 apparitions. So we are supposed to believe that great miracle was performed to authenticate a series of Marian apparitions which promised, after a successful and proper consecration of Russia, supposedly done in 1984, the following benefits: Partial Birth abortion, fetal stem cell research, embryos frozen and then discarded, the rise of homosexuality, trans-genderism, homosexual “marriage,” hideous experiments with human/animal combinations, genetic manipulations of many species, especially food plants, the rise of Islamic terrorism, increasing world violence in civilian populations, hundreds of wars, as well as a virtual Marxist takeover of the U.S.A., just as Sr. Lucy predicted in 1946, the Novus Ordo Missae in the Church with its consequent abandonment of the faith by millions around the world., the clerical sexual scandals that Benedict XVI indicated are part of the Third Secret during his 2010 pilgrimage to Fatma, Benedict’s statement that “he who thinks that the prophetic nature of Fatima is over deceives himself,” indicating that the Third Secret is still playing out as the real Fatima experts have insisted, etc., etc., etc. Incidentally, the very statement in this famous new book on Fatima, purportedly made by Sr. Lucy, that Portugal “lost the promise” because it allowed abortion, is a dead give away that at least parts of the book are phony. They sound as if Cardinal Bertone wrote them. Anyone who insists that the consecration is done is a fool and a dupe or a Novus Ordo catholic or someone with a less than salutary agenda regarding the salvation of souls. Those who harps on the “magisterium” without realizing that the “magisterium” isn’t the real “magisterium” anymore….These fools believe that after 31 years we shouldn’t expect to have seen at least a lessening of violence in the world just for starters. And in the name of pastoral mercy, the “magisterium” of the current Francis/ Casper axis, wants to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to take Communion…This in direct defiance of the words of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the gospels!! Such is the state of the Magisterium today. So if the Third secret doesn’t mention this, well then, it seems that God wasted the Miracle of the Sun on a church and a world that’s getting holier and more peaceful by the day. Very well said but misinterpreted again. In 1933 or 34 Our Lord spoke to Lucia in a locution about the Five First Saturdays of Reparation and the Consecration of Russia. In 1929 Our Lady returned and told Lucia that the moment had come for her to request the pope to perform the consecration. In 1930 the apparitions were declared to be worthy of belief after a long investigation. Since she had not heard anything from the pope after several years she asked Our Lord why he would not convert Russia without this consecration. He said,” because I want My whole Church to recognize this consecration as the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that later on the devotion to her Immaculate Heart will be placed next to the devotion to My Sacred Heart.” Notice the sequence here: 1st) Russia to be consecrated; 2nd.) this will be recognized as the promised Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Note that this recognition can only occur if something astounding happens in Russia immediately or shortly after the public consecration by the pope and all the bishops. The media will have to cover a sudden big change in Russia, and since the consecration has taken place just recently, the only conclusion is that the Blessed Virgin’s intercession deserves the credit. 3rd.) “Later on” the devotion to the Immaculate Heart will be “placed” (by the Church) “next to the devotion to My sacred Heart.” If JPII did the proper consecration when did he FORMALLY or in any other way for that matter, announce a program of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart? He didn’t. Russia converts right after the consecration, Mary gets public “recognition-credit” for it, and the devotion is finally promoted, not the other way around…….You MUST know the fine points about this phenomenon to understand it and resist the constant misinformation out there!

Please grow up and recognize the gravity of the times we are in! Do you know anything about the First Saturday Devotions requested by Our Lady at Fatima? Do you practice it, Kevin? Our Lord explained to Sr. Lucy in the early 30’s in a locution, that there are five Saturdays in order to make reparation to Our Lady for five types of blasphemies against her Immaculate Heart. One of those blasphemies is by those who ridicule her images and statues and deny her Perpetual Virginity and at the same time deny her as the Mother of Men. Another is denial of her Immaculate Conception…Who are the ones who do these things? Some Catholics, some atheists, but mainly protestants!! Read some of the comments , even in this article, of those protestants who read Catholic articles and you’ll see. I prefer to defend the honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary rather than to show how holy I am by “reminding” someone that we “hope to see them come to the truth etc.” Sure we hope they’ll come to the truth, but insulting Mary is not the place to start nor is it a phenomenon to simply let slide by. Why did the Pope John Paul II consecrate the world instead of Russia namely like our Lady required, in union with the world’s bishops? Why did the Vatican unveil the 3rd Secret lately in 2000 if it’s content (after all not so frightening) was prophesying the assassination attempt on the Pope in 1981?
Did this cardinal Amato ever read the 3rd Secret? Two high ranking cardinals, Ciappi and Oddi, who had read the Secret in the sixties, said that it was addressing the apostasy in the Church as it was prophesied in the Revelation Book. Ciappi had these scary and explicit words: ” In the Third Secret, it is foretold, among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top.”
Why was the press release of the Vatican on feb 8th 1960 written as follows: “It is very probable that the letter in which Sr. Lucia wrote the WORDS of the Virgin Mary addressed to the three shepherds at the Cova da Iria, will never be opened.”
The 3rd Secret like it was unveiled in 2000 contained no WORDS of our Lady since it was a description of the vision as seen by the kids…

Well there’s a new book out on this and it was written by the nuns who lived with Sister Lucia and Sister Lucia herself concerning what you are speaking of. The Consecration according to them was done and Portugal lost the promise made about remaining faithful because they allowed legalized abortion, and the apostasy is already happening. Mary said the smoke of Satan will reach even to the hierarchy- as we are seeing now, with Bishops even- asking for women Ordination, same sex ‘marriage’ etc etc…and much more. This agrees with Cardinal Ciappi, Papal Theologian to five popes beginning with Pius XII, who said the secret says among other things that “the great apostasy in the church begins at the top!” So please don’t tell me I’m on shaky ground, Kevin, because you, like countless others have not studied Fatima for nearly 60 years as I have, since I was an altar boy in the fifties, and you don’t know any of the pre Vatican II common knowledge about Fatima that all Catholics knew at the time. In the late fifties, everyone was talking about the letter that Sr. Lucy had written with the words of Our Lady of Fatima, that was the anticipated Third Secret. “Good” pope John never released it. He disobeyed the very Mother of God! Only an apostate church would canonize such a man… In 2000 they released the account of a vision that Sr.Lucia recorded in her notebook. The experts have also concluded, based on two different recorded dates on which both Paul VI and JPII, were reported to have read the secret that it was recorded in two different venues by the seer and therefore read by these popes on two different dates. The letter is the part that they won’t release because it indicts the conciliar popes for serious negligence in maintaining the Faith. So again, please don’t lecture people about something that you know nothing about!

Snow the Consecration of Russia was NOT done. People need to stop believing these books that re coming out and look around. HAS RUSSIA STOPPED SPREADING IT’S EVIL WAYS? I don’t recall the word ‘immediately’ in the promise Mary made at Fatima. God is all knowing so He knew what would happen with Fatima and the consecration. I am not in a position to do anything other than pray for His will in this to be done. I’m also not going to Judge what the Popes have done. I am going to trust God, pray as Mary asked and wait on God’s will.
I agree that we should Pray and trust God but it doesn’t mean we can’t look at was was done and make an informed determination. The Consecration of Russia has not been done we all know that. It is a fact. To ignore that fact is naive. There is something we can do besides pray. We can write our Bishops and Cardinals and even the Pope to ask them to do what Mary requested. We can also be influential in calling out Bishops, Priests and Cardinals for preaching anything that goes against the Dogma of the RCC. Prayer coupled with action by the Congregation is what’s needed. We are instruments to do God’s Will. We can have a say in defending our Church.

Another thing to think about here is God’s timing is not our timing. When Jesus died on the cross and rose from death, He conquered Satan, yet we clearly see Satan is still allowed to roam through the earth like a lion, seeking the ruin of souls.

When I mentioned the survivors will envy the dead I was not talking out of fear. I was just stating what Mary has said. I’m not looking to be a martyr no one should. But in the course of loving Jesus and Mary how can I denounce my Faith? Jesus said the faithful will be persecuted because of His Name. That is happening now. So Jesus being ignored by people you knew is to be expected. All you and I can do is pray for the conversion of sinners and for the Pope to consecrate Russia to Mary’s Immaculate Heart. Pray also for the Bishops, Cardinals, and the Pope to hold true to Catholic Dogma during the Synod of the Family in October. If Catholic Dogma is changed to allow divorced and remarried couples to receive Communion and the acceptance of Gay Unions then this will do untold damage to the Church. If the RCC gives Communion to adulterers that’s going against what Jesus taught because it’s accepting adultery as OK which is a grave sin. Marriage is between a Man and Woman comes from God. If the RCC accepts Gay Unions that is going against Jesus’s Teaching(dogma).

You don’t think there is a liberal faction of the Vatican? The Vatican is made up of human beings who can be tempted by Satan and many have. That’s why we are at this point. The liberal faction is not going against Christ. They are going against human beings in Jesus’s Church. In the end the Church will prevail. But in my opinion we are not in the end.

Jerry…stop being afraid.If you truly love Jesus and trust Him..what is there to fear? He created everything..even death, even the way out of the guilt of sin. A Saint once said Thank God for sin, if not for sin, Jesus would not have been sent to us, would not have been necessary, so thank God for that!

This is not true. The (mortal) penalty for adultery was stoning, a death
sentence, Jesus abolished this mortal penalty and the Church put it back
in place by stoning the soul. The CC idea of mortal sin is so way out of wack that missing mass is the same as murder – both mortal – and you wonder why (as someone pointed out) that if missing mass is a mortal sin abortion
is no more serious than missing mass. Your contempt for “Adulterers” (who
are you to capitalize this word?) is all that is wrong in the church today.
