We have been to Lanzarote several times over the years and always use the Intercity Bus service. The last time we used in December this year there were new tv screens in both English and Spanish with each destination clearly shown. We only used the 03 bus this year to travel between Costa Teguise and Peurto de Carmen but in previous year also used it for travelling to Plays Blanca. The bus between Costa Teguise and Peurto de Carmen travels every 20 minutes from early to late evening and this year was 5.90 euros for 2 persons per trip. This price has gone up each year but we think it still represents good value.

We got the 03 bus from Puerto del carmen to costa teguise, it was very easy and cheap at around 3€ each way . The only downside was that it took over an hour to get there due to the route and number of stops, and 45 minutes on the way back. The driver spoke English and was very helpful . We didn't have a problem getting seats and the bus was clean and on time, they run every 20 Minutes 👍🏻

Plenty of buses to get to most places on the island and reasonably priced. Had a bad experience trying to get on the 161 at Puerto Calero going to Playa Blanca. Lots of people got off the bus but the driver said he was full up. I knew it was not full up and made the mistake of getting off the bus instead of just giving him the bus fare of and sitting down. So I was left stranded until the next bus came along whenever. However, immediately the bus departed a taxi appeared and I had no choice but to pay the 25 Euros to PB. Having spoken to people both tourist and local people apparently this happens a lot. So if you are using the buses and are aware there are seats on the bus, just get on and stay on.

This is our first year using this service. The bus stops have all the timetables and we found these fairly good.we travelled on the 161 from Matagorda to playa blanca for less than 6 euro one way for two.the buses are very comfortable with air con.Its a cheap way to see the island compared to coach excursions..We never had to wait more than 10 minutes for one to come along.the 161 goes from arrecife to playa blanca stopping a few times on the way to Puerto del Carmen ,then onto Puerto calero ,yaiza and finally at the small bus station in playa blanca.Just a word of caution ,keep a look out for your stop as the drivers don't always announce where they have stopped.

As with all the reviews I write, this is done as a wheelchair user who relies on his wife to push him about.
During our stay in Puerto Del Carmen, we decided that we would like to see a bit more of the Island.
We visited a tour company to hopefully arrange a tour but they could only suggest one as being suitable for a wheelchair user. At the time we asked about the public buses (these have a symbol of a wheelchair on the side) but the man at the tour company shook his head. We then enquired in the tourist office who gave us a bus timetable and was told we ought to be able to use them.
The next day, we popped along to our nearest bus stop in the hope of getting to Play Blanca. Along came the bus, the driver got out, opened the side door, pressed a few buttons and down came a platform! Wheelchair on, up I went into a designated space breaks and seatbelt on and that was me. Simple!
As well as going to Play Blanca, we used intercity buses to visit Costa Teguise and Arrecife a couple of times.
Only once did we have a hiccup when two of the buses were unable to get the lift or ramp to function. Both times the drivers were very apologetic. Indeed all the drivers we dealt with were most helpful and patient when the lift control appeared to malfunction. The cost of using these buses is also very reasonable.
We found the buses to be clean and had music playing at times. The routes they take are interesting as, being a public service, they are not the most direct and one gets to see more of a town/village and countryside.
Should we get back to Lanzarote, we know how we will see the island. Thank you Intercity Bus Lanzarote.

This is a bus service which goes around Playa Blanca from around 6.00am until 10.30pm. It only cost 2.80 euro return was very punctual and driven by really pleasant drivers.

IBL is a classic case of a bus service which is utterly unresponsive to the needs of users. Timekeeping is poor, which is particularly inexcusable when traffic congestion on the island is virtually non-existent. The flagship route (3, linking Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise) passes the central bus station in Arrecife but there is apparently no attempt whatsoever to prevent bunching, so three buses will arrive in tandem when they are meant to turn up every 20 minutes.
It is only in the last year or so that their website provides maps showing routes and stops and only in the last month that bus stop timetables have appeared at some of the island's busiest stops in Puerto del Carmen.Within PdC, there are still some stops without information, seats or any shelter. to add insult to injury, some of the gap between stops is ludicrously long (1km on the main strip in PdC) with one stop having been abolished in favour of a taxi rank!

Intercity buses are a good way to get about the island to the main towns. PDC to Playa Blanca runs about every half hour at peak and once an hour outside. Various bus stops in PDC display timetables. The nearest for us was at the top of the hill of Calle Roque Nublo - known as Balcon Del Mar
Best to have an approximation of the fare which paying one way for two adults is €5.50, but they will provide some change up to €10. As of Mar 2018 timetable below. The bus speeds along and arrives at the bus station in Playa Blanca in about half an hour.
If anyone has travelled on buses along the Amalfi coast in Italy - packed full with as many standing as seated, no aircon, swaying around making everyone queasy - this is nothing like that! Relatively airy and straightforward ride. Though, if you want to get on at an intermediate stop, as the driver seems to only allow seated passengers, they may just drive passed you. Our 1555 bus back was full for example

Are you able to pay by debit card on the bus or do you have to have a prepaid card?

There are several download the Moovit App or look it up on google maps. I’d recommend the app, it has bus times and real time directions.

We're travelling from the airport to Playa Blanca on Sunday 28/9/18. Is the journey time an hour approximately?
We’re coming to peurto del Carmen in December and looking to travel to Playa Blanca for a day out as we stopped here last year and enjoyed the shops. Could anyone please tell me how much a bus would be and what number? We are staying at THB Flora so near the harbour in Carmen. Thanks in advance!

Hey,
I understand there's a bus from Arrecife to Caleta Famara (line 20 Intercity).
Anyone have any experience and can tell how long the whole journey takes?
Thanks
