The hubby and I stayed here from 12/31/19 to 1/2/2020. We booked this hotel very early on, knowing that ourselves and friends would be attending the Resolution Gala at Navy Pier for New Year's Eve. We all managed to get hotels in walking distance from one another, but our friends and family were very jealous of our room. Our room was the meet up point, before heading it. We stayed in a very nice suite, and our room, plus the hotel itself was very nice. A lot of things were in walking distance, like restaurants, and stores, which made things very easy, because traffic was crazy those days. The price rate was great considering the time of year, and everything that was going in the city that day. My only issue with this hotel was that it was a lot going on when we came back on New Years, and we didn't get in til 4, so I wasn't expecting all the people on the first floor, that were drunk, and not anyone really doing anything to control it, but we made it up safe. Other than that, a very nice hotel.

No room service for the entire 5 nights stay. Asked front desk multiple times to please send someone to at least make our room halfway through out stay. Sheets unchanged, get to sleep in our own dirtied sweat stained sheets for the whole week. I have had better cleaning service at hostels for fraction of the cost. We're still charged an additional $20 "destination fee" per night for the privilege of making our own bed and taking out our own trash. Ran out of toilet paper, had to beg for clean towel and toiletries. This is not the experience I've expected from a Hyatt property. There are so many hotel options on the Miles, will never stay here or recommend anyone staying here again.

The stay was ok but I expected more. The rooms need a bathroom upgrade. Tubs are so dated. The mattresses are rough as as well. You have to go to the lobby for a microwave as there isn't one in the rooms nor on the floor. Coffee cups had lids that were too little and the pool is soooooo small. Only 3 and 4 ft available and it may have been 15 ft long. But the hot tub was ok. I used it more. I did enjoy level two but this place could definitely use an upgrade for this price. Oh and $75 per night for incidentals is a bit much. They tell you it's fully refundable which isn't true because the destination charge is nonrefundable. Location is what you're paying for because it isn't what you expect from the photos on the site. But the fact that it's right across the street from a hospital you here sirens all day and night. So location isn't all that great either.

They were very helpful at front door. The check-in was quick and easy. The cleaning staff was very helpful in replacing used items in the room. The bartenders were very friendly and accommodating when larger groups of the family were together.

Our soaps were used in the shower which made us wonder if our room was clean. My $22 salad had wilted lettuce and the $27 breakfast buffet had only one broken toaster available. Parking was overpriced at $72 per night.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I called ahead to ask about a shuttle from the airport and they recommended I grab a taxi there at the airport since they did not have a shuttle service. For my return trip to the airport, the hotel staff at the door to the street let me know that the hotel has a special deal with the taxi company for a flat rate of $35 to the airport and that I could prearrange the pickup time which I did and was thoroughly pleased! I also love that Starbucks is inside the main entrance to the hotel which was so convenient !! Easy walk to Millennium Park and Lakeshore Drive as well as Northwestern University, Chicago Art Museum, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

Booking & Check In
Booked directly on hyatt.com with cash for a Standard King. We were upgraded to a Executive King Suite at check in. Check in was both thorough and efficient with globalist recognition and an explanation of benefits.
Hotel & location
I liked that the hotel was a block off the chaos of Mag Mile, so it’s close to everything with being too loud and obnoxious. The building seemed a bit older, but the common spaces felt in-line with other Centrics I’ve been to.
Room
The suite we were upgraded to was plenty large for two folks. I didn’t love the layout (e.g., weird pillar separation in the bathroom that makes it a large u-shaped room), but it was functionally solid. The walls were a smidge thing and we heard neighbors on occasion, but it wasn’t too bad.
Service
We were there during the week so the buffet was closed, but the table-service breakfast was excellent. It was much better than other Centrics I’ve stayed in. The service was great, the food was great, and it consistently came out less than 5 minutes after ordering each day (seriously, it was shockingly fast).
Conclusion
Overall it’s a great value and the Globalist benefit delivery was excellent for a Centric. I’ve had some misses in this brand, but I’d probably default to this hotel again for my next trip to Chicago despite the plethora of other options.

My wife and I have stayed at the Hyatt Centric Chicago Magnificent Mile twice this year, two nights each. Really like it. The neighborhood is great, the large lounge area on the second floor is very pleasant and comfortable, the rooms are comfortable and well insulated from noise.
One caveat -- you don't want a room on the side across from Northwestern Hospital due to periodic sirens. When we stayed (2021), the staff was very accommodating with room location requests.

Nice hotel in good condition, good location for shopping or lakefront activities, good restaurant breakfast. I liked that they don't use plastic containers in the to-go orders, the breakfast was served on real silverware with no plastic/single use/etc. Felt like hotel stays before Covid.

Large well maintained rooms with thoughtful touches throughout and was also a great price in January. Bar was lively (and had charging points at the bar :). Good WiFi and beds also. Didn't use the pool/gym but heard they were good. The Beatrix cafe across the road has much better coffee than the awful Starbucks in the foyer. Lots of great food and shopping options in every direction. Would stay again.

Yes, the Executive Suites have a king bed in the bedroom, and a queen pullout sofa in the parlor. Additionally, you could have a rollaway bed added, if you desire.
