About the Author

Rosie Daley was born in New Jersey. She trained as a chef at the acclaimed Cal-a-Vie spa just north of San Diego, where she met Oprah Winfrey. Daley worked as Oprah’s personal chef for five years before publishing her first book. She is also the co-author, with Andrew Weil, M.D., of The Healthy Kitchen: Recipes for a Better Body, Life, and Spirit. She lives in Encinitas, California.

I read a review of this book and the reviewer said that the no-fry chicken recipe alone was worth the price of the book. I haven't tried the recipe yet, but I fully intend to. Many of the recipes seem too time consuming for me, but I'm eager to try a few of the recipes. These are the dishes that Oprah enjoyed the most and kept asking for over and over again. The book explains that Oprah had gone to a luncheon. When she tasted some of the food, she marched right back to the kitchen and asked; "Who made this?" She hired Rosie on the spot. For Rosie, this was a life-changing moment. She moved to Chicago and became Oprah's personal cook. Great story and some mighty tasty-looking recipes. Can't wait to try them.

This book was a sensation when first published. Glad I found it here. Easy recipes, lots of good healthy choices and many ingredients found in average pantry. Too bad Rosie herself was not included so she could come cook up these meals for me as she did for Oprah. That is the only downside. But then if I had Oprah's money I wouldn't be buying used books from Amazon.com.

I love Rosie's recipes, I tried her corn chowder awhile back and literally fell in love. I had no idea how healthy it was, I just knew it was full of fattening things, because it taste so good, and I was shocked to learn that it wasn't and that it was one of her recipes. She has a whole amazing book full of fun good things to eat, I am happy I bought this. I usually don't buy cookbooks, I just find recipes online and save them, but I am glad I decided to take a change on her, it was a great idea.

The blurb warned me that the copy I received might have some dings in the cover and/or some writing/underlining in it. Nope. Beautiful copy. Looked brand new.
What's especially nice about the contents is the extra stuff tossed in, explanations of how to to do thing from poaching chicken to making orange pinwheels for decoration. I learned a lot about curries and I had only thought there was one! Lots of little extras like that made this a worthwhile purchase, even if I only make two or three of the recipes included I count this a winner. Highly recommended.
