This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Nestled in a prime location, Hyatt Regency Bethesda garners acclaim for its proximity to local attractions, dining, and the Metro, a perk that entices many visitors. While the spacious and comfortable rooms receive compliments, guests have voiced concerns over noise, cleanliness, and inconsistent quality. Some travelers feel that the value is diminished by additional charges like parking and smoking fees. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness generally earn positive remarks, with modern touches and well-maintained spaces being highlighted, although the limited event space and occasional service hiccups have been noted.

The Hyatt is in the center of downtown Bethesda where you can find many good restaurants within a short walk. Ruth Chris is three blocks away. French bakery Tatte is two blocks away. The facilities are up to date. The whole place is clean. The staff is very professional. Most guests seem to be business travelers.

For $89 per night we got a room that was large, clean, bright, airy, with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom and shower. I have stayed in rooms that cost $700 per night that were not as nice. I would stay here again in a minute. When I wanted to watch the football game and my wife wanted to sleep, they gave me the adjoining empty room for 3 hours to watch the game. Who does that these days?

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times a year for a long time. The recent renovation is finished and the updates are all quite nice. The bathrooms are great with hooks and towel racks, and there are lot of electrical outlets (and USB plugs although I prefer to charge via my own adapter). The beds are nice, and the TV is big with lots of channels. One of the things I like about this place is that it has a non-square layout so the rooms are not all exactly the same, but the one I was in this time had a pillar near the window that made it impossible to get complete blackout from the curtains. As I was traveling for business, sleeping in wasn't an option, but if a dark sleeping room is needed, I would be sure to request that in advance (I haven't had that issue in other rooms. The location is great, but in a very busy area that means traffic and occasional sirens all night. I live in a quiet area at home, so the city noise can be bothersome, but you can't have a hotel in the middle of the action without that.

I stayed here for New Year's Eve. The hotel staff was welcoming and professional. It was a great staycation. Lovely hotel! It is in the heart of the city. Parking is pricey but it is in a prime location for food and shopping so once you park your car you do not have to move it again!

Checked in for a week and told I would receive NO Housekeeping to “protect me”. No restaurant room service . In room coffee cups but no Coffee maker. Must buy $4.00 water or drink putting mouth under faucet( are you sure this is the most sanitary) as there are no cups or glasses in room. No hospitality. No warmth.
I’ve stayed in this hotel before but now, Hyatt, I think you are just faking your way through.

I was traveling alone to visit family and sightsee in DC for four days/three nights. One of the biggest draws of this property was the location! It is located right at the top of the Bethesda metro station on the red line- transportation to and from various DC sites and DCA could not have been easier! My family members drove in from nearby Gaithersberg and parked in the garage next to the hotel and it was VERY reasonable at $8 a day. The area is safe, clean, and has a young professional vibe.

Some of the negatives of the hotel are truly outside of their control. Since there is an ongoing pandemic, many protocols are in place that take away from a typical hotel experience. There is no housekeeping, masks became mandated indoors for all visitors while I was there, and the Starbucks and restaurants had limited hours. Out of fairness to the hotel, those things aren't factored into my review!

I did feel that the experience was quite impersonal. The only staff members I spoke to were when I checked in and when I checked out (and they were wonderful and friendly!) The times I would be coming and going and walk past the front desk, there was no acknowledgement or eye contact- even when saying "hello" or "good morning."

The hotel is just a bit rundown. It could do with a bit of a facelift, as carpets and walls are looking quite worn. However, the room and bathroom were spotless. The public spaces of the hotel were very clean!

Also be aware that it can be LOUD here. The hotel is all open into an atrium so the sound from multiple bachelorette parties will travel at 2am! Ear plugs and a white noise app helped. The other missing piece was some sort of sundries shop. There were a couple locked cases of snacks in the lobby that the front desk staff could access, but that was it. I ended up walking down the block to a CVS to pick up couple items.

If you are looking for a clean hotel in an excellent location for just sleeping and showering, this is a great choice! If you expect to spend some more time at your hotel and wish to use various amenities, I would choose elsewhere.

All in all, the price was great for my needs. I would definitely stay again and will be curious to see how the experience changes after COVID!

We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda several times over the years, and feel that it can't be beat for affordability and convenience when visiting the Washington D.C. area. The Hyatt literally sits on top of the Bethesda metro station. The 15-20 minute train ride really beats the hassle of parking in DC. Best of all, we paid about $117 a night for a large upgraded room with huge very clean bathroom. Parking for 2 nights was $16 for 2 nights. The Capitol Crescent bike trail access is only a couple of blocks away. In addition, Bethesda has great restaurants within walking distance and the old-school Tastee Diner around the corner.

Nice hotel in a prime spot with all necessary amenities. My room was spacious, clean, and did not feel dated. Staff was always hospitable, helpful, efficient and available. The location was amazing. In addition to Morton’s and the Daily Grill being located in the hotel, there were SO many great places to dine within a short walk of this location. The Metro(Bethesda)station is located right below the hotel as well. This was truly a super convenient place to stay. I’ll definitely be staying here again in the future.

The shower leaks all over the floor. The bed is hard. The pillows are soft until you lay on them then they become like concrete. I stayed 4 nights and had to ask 3x to get any service such as emptying the trash or new bathmats for the wet floor.

On the plus side, the staff is incredibly helpful, responsive and polite. They did everything they could to make our 4-night stay comfortable and we could not have asked them to do more. On the minus side, as of May, 2022, some of the services were limited in an attempt, according to the hotel, to minimize contact with guests because of Covid. For example: 1. housekeeping was offered every 3rd day, but one could request more frequent service. 2. there was no valet service upon arrival, but hotel carts were made available to guests to use themselves. 3. there was no on-site restaurant for breakfast or lunch, other than Starbucks, due to renovations. But there is an excellent place for breakfast just 2 short blocks from the hotel, so it wasn't a problem. For dinner, Morton's Steakhouse is on premises. The food is reliably excellent but pricey.

None of the above amenities that were lacking were listed in the internet ad, but after we made our reservation we received an email advising us of the situation. Even if we knew beforehand, we still would have made the reservation. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

The basic stay does not include parking. There is a fee for parking at the hotel, and if you plan to come and go, there is an additional fee. However, there are two other parking garages that are free on the weekends. I parked across the street for the free.
