Pride Shabbat – “Us and them” by Ben Kawaller

Hosted By: The City Congregation For Humanistic Judaism

In celebration of Pride Month, we’ll watch a brilliant play by Ben Kawaller, whose father, Ira Kawaller, contributed to the TCC book, Contemplation: Humanistic Reflections by Members of the City Congregation. Ben’s play, Us and Them, explores a college student’s nonbinary gender identity, and how others receive them (their preferred pronoun). We encourage everyone to view the full play in advance of our Pride Shabbat, at Us and Them – A Reading of a New Play by Ben Kawaller – YouTube. For the program itself, we’ll watch excerpts from the play, and then discuss it under the expert guidance of Suzanne Sherkin, who spoke at TCC’s Pride Shabbat last year. Ben will join us for the discussion.
