"The worst doctor I have ever seen! Did not even step all the way in the room. Drove a good distance to see him and waited for ever in the office for him to not even care to listen or evaluate me. My was in tears for my wife as I watch her struggle every day! It broke my heart. "

"Dr. Krein did my facial reconstruction after cancer took my eye and all contents of the orbital cavity. I was terrified about losing my eye but after meeting Dr. Krein I felt reassured and everything went well, no complications. He's skilled, kind, explains everything clearly, and has a great manner with patients."

"Dr. Krein performed my Septoplasty and Turbinate Reduction in 2020 and left me in a chronic, debilitating nightmare of pain. The surgery has completely destroyed my quality of life in every way imaginable. I was a healthy, physically fit person and my life has been horribly changed by a surgery that, in my opinion, was completely unnecessary. I wish I never heard of Dr. Krein. If he tells you that you need a Turbinate Reduction, seek a 2nd opinion. I originally went to see Dr. Krein to correct a collapsed nasal wall and as explained by another surgeon, it would be a fairly simple, low risk procedure to correct this issue. I expressed my concerns and wishes to Dr. Krein for only wanting the most conservative procedure. Instead, Dr. Krein insisted that I needed 5 surgical procedures. Along with correcting the collapsed nasal wall with Alar Batten grafts, he stated that I also needed a Septoplasty and Turbinate reduction. He told me not to worry, he had done the procedures “thousands ...
of times , without problems.” My surgery took over 5 hours, and I was one of the last patients to leave the surgical center that night. Six days after surgery, when my stents were removed, Dr. Krein examined me declaring that my nose was “wide open” and I could go back to normal activities. Before I was even halfway home, I knew something was wrong. My nose felt like a wide open tunnel and the air I breathed through my nostrils was piercing, bone dry, and ice-cold. It did not feel like a normal, comforting sensation of air going into my nose. It was excruciating. I tried blocking my nostrils to stop the painful, icy cold air from entering my nose. The first night was one of the most horrific nights of my life. It was impossible to sleep. I laid in bed, crying in pain and gasping for air. I got up every 2 hours to spray saline into my nostrils to try and relieve the dryness. That sensation has been with me every day since my surgery, nothing but horrific dryness and icy cold air no matter what the weather conditions are. I am constantly weak, with headaches and fatigue. I have no sense of smell. My nose does not function in any way, shape or form. I am unable to sleep. My quality of life had diminished beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I notified Dr. Krein as my condition only worsened. Within weeks, I was almost completely bed-ridden, barely able to get out of bed, or do anything without my husbands help. My family watched me suffer and deteriorate. To this day, over 15 months later, it is still a painful struggle to breathe and get through each day. I no longer have any natural moisture in my nose and must manually moisturize it every few hours, day and night, a never-ending nightmare. The lining inside my nose seems irreparably destroyed by this surgery. In addition to sense of smell, which I no longer have; it doesn’t warm, humidify or filter the air. Breathing, like a regular person, is now alien to me. The air is icy and piercing cold, no matter what I do. The dryness is unbearable. My breathing ability through my nose is far worse than prior to surgery. As a result, my world is now incredibly small. I was never told of risks other than possible loss of smell. Before you get a Turbinate Reduction, know ALL the risks: including complete loss of functionality of the nose, (no ability to humidify, warm or filter the air), complete loss of a normal comfortable breathing sensation, being incapable of sleeping through the night, extremely painful nasal dryness, headaches, weakness, extreme fatigue from being in constant, inhumane, never-ending pain. Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
