Do you constantly receive photos and videos from your friends using Facebook Messenger? Instead of manually downloading the photos and videos, wouldn't you rather automatically save photos and videos from Facebook Messenger? Well, for some time, the Messenger app offered this option. However, in the fall of 2018, Messenger updated, and the auto-save photos/videos feature was removed.
Facebook Messenger does give you the option to automatically save photos captured while using the app (Android Only).
Although an admitted pain-in-the-butt, the option to save incoming media files manually is still very much available. Looking at it from a glass half full perspective, you'll most likely save storage space by not saving every media file thrown at you.

Automatically Save Photos on Capture With Facebook Messenger for Android
- 1Launch Facebook Messenger from your home screen or app tray.
- 2Tap your Profile icon in the upper left corner.
- 3Tap Photos & Media.
- 4Tap the toggle switch to enable Save on capture.
Manually Save Photos and Videos From Facebook Messenger on Android
- 1Open a conversation, tap+hold on a picture, then tap Save Image.
- 2To access images saved from Facebook Messenger conversations, open your preferred file management app, then tap the Pictures folder.
- 3Tap Messenger.
- 4Tap the vertical ellipsis menu in the upper right corner, tap Sort, then tap Date.
- 5The most recent images saved are listed at the top of the screen.To go to saved videos, navigate to the Movies folder in step 2.

I can't download video in Facebook Messenger?
I'm trying to save the video in my gallery on the phone, but there's no option to save it there. There was a save video, but I don't know where it was saved
Once you long-press the video and click Save it will be set to where your Videos within your phone are typically stored. It may take a minute to appear depending on whether you are connected to WiFi or not. If it is not saving and you are not connected to WiFi, then go into the app settings and change the option to save even if you are not connected to WiFi.
There is a picture in a closed group that We are trying to send out to everyone publicly. It's stolen car. How do I do this?
Long press on the image and a sharing/download option will appear for you to save the image.

I'd like to save images and video to my Mac or PC, or thumb drive. I know how to save individually. There must be a way to export full images and video to a folder? Dropbox, for example?
Since the update that removed the auto-save incoming media feature is gone, you can only manually save individual images/videos. See both sections above for specific locations for Android and iOS devices.
Can't share pis to save in my Google... I don't want to lost thes pic.
