Worst experience ever. Showed up to my reservation and they couldn’t accommodate my request for a booth that I had requested weeks in advance. They even tried to seat me at the BAR!!! Are you serious??? On Valentine’s Day!!!!! At 9:30pm which was my reservation time, they had run out of half the food items on the menu. Mind you it’s Valentine’s Day and everywhere else had no more open reservations. Never going back there

Went for Valentine's Day. Fiancee had Prix Fixe which included appetizer (mediocre; a type of mozzarella like cheese, apple sause/jam spread, and other bits), an entree (filet, medium like requested and very flavorful), dessert (olive oil cake or mousse-type cake - both less than mediocre, not very inspired or interesting), and a flute of champagne (not good). I had a whole branzino (bone-in; excellent) and a twice baked potato (Meh). Service was excellent - server made sure we had a great time and was very personable. Cocktails were good but expensive. Would not go again for the price - there are plenty of other places in DC to try. The atmosphere from the advertisement that caused me to book made me think it would be a much more intimate setting. However, it was a very open seating space with a lot of small tables and no separation. Also, while they touted a flame grill, it's pretty much a small grill behind a sushi-like bar that you can watch if you sit side-by-side at the bar. It is not very intimate and not what I was expecting. Also pretty high noise level. TL;DNR - Great entrees and excellent service, but mediocre to sub-par prix fixe starters and desserts and a la carte side. Would not go again for the price or even, probably, at a reduced price.

Granted it was Valentine’s Day- but I’m only saying something because my experience wasn’t a single incident. They were out of several menu items, the waitress was cool but I think she was overwhelmed. I drink a lot of water and we only got a refill once.. once we ordered (pick n choose ordering since they were out of steak, Brussels, and sweet potatoes) the food took 47 minutes to arrive. It was warm, not hot and it was just “ok”. Needless to say, at this price point, I had a very underwhelming experience and was slightly disappointed with the experience overall.

Service was slow and inattentive. It was 30 minutes from sitting before our drinks we delivered then starter, main, and dessert cane rapid fire. Menu is limited which would be fine except both mains, especially the steak, lacked flavor.

I had a special request on Valentines Day - someone at a hotel took notes and promised to relay to Cherry. Was supposed to be executed with deserts, but didn't happen. Still had a good time though.

Cherry was a nice restaurant experience overall. Updated an modern decor, the music gave a good vibe without being too overbearing. The wait staff and Chef are wonderful and the service was outstanding! The menu is short but well rounded and ghe food was fabulous. I would go there again in the future

Menu is a bit too limited. They dont have candles for birthday occasion. Other than those, the food was greatly done. We ordered tomahawk for 2 and it was amazing.

Had dinner during Restaurant Week. Ambience & service were excellent. Roasted avocado appetizer was very tasty. Grilled oysters was also good but a pricey serving of only 3 small oysters. Main entrees were disappointing— grilled scallops was good but came in small portion, more like a small plate serving. The recommended pork chop was not so good — tough & with little flavor. Wine was good.

What happened? This is the question I was left with after enjoying a very good meal in August. Everything was off at this meal for restaurant week. My beer arrived with about 3 fingers of space at the top, showing a combination of someone pouring the beer who did not know how to, and someone picking it up who did not care. I sat at the counter and could see that meats had been pre grilled, and were waiting to be put on the grill to be warmed up and served. Same with giant pans full of ether root vegetables or Brussels Sprouts. Efficient: certainly. But it led to my pork loin being overcooked and dry. I started with the oysters, and these came in a trio, very small, and overgrilled. Then came the pork loin, which should have been juicy and had a tinge of pink. Instead it was dry, likely a consequence of being re-grilled. The menu said it would arrive with 'flamed apples'. Not an apple slice in sight. It came with a too sweet apple cider sauce, which would have been better used on the tasteless sprouts. Desserts should be served on a chilled plate, but both the plate and the dessert itself were room temperature, which tells me they were pre-plated. Overall a barely fair culinary experience.

Some of the food was good, but there were a few almost in-edible dishes, such as the figs appetizer. The service was quite bad. Our server took a very long time to come take our order, and when she finally came to do so she informed us that they were out of the main courses we had selected. It would have been better to relay this information when she sat us down. We wound up ordering about six appetizers instead, and they all came out at the same time, which was very overwhelming. We also offered a side, which was delivered to our table 15 minutes after all of the other dishes. Overall, this restaurant has potential, but the service needs a lot of work.

Excellent service and cool setting. We would definitely go back. My only suggestion would be to leave off the red sauce and bread on top of the grilled octopus and then you would have a wonderful dish. The red sauce overpowers the grilled octopus wood fired flavor, in my opinion.

I had the pleasure of dining at Cherry with a coworker on a recent business trip to DC. What a great dining experience. Both the food and service were outstanding. We started by splitting the Octopus appetizer, perfectly tender and delicious, one of the best Grilled Octopus dishes I have ever had! I had the filet which was perfectly cooked, my colleague had the roasted chicken which also happened to be delicious. Every time one of us got up to use the rest room the waiter was quick to come by to fold our napkins and to refill our waters. I 100% will return and would recommend to anybody looking for a delicious business meal or a fun night out.

Food was not great by any stretch. All the starters lacked flavor and the mains were not seasoned well. Flavor combinations were unconventional and just off. Beef tartare was bland. Tuna steak had no salt except the 30 olives it was sitting on. No one was happy out of our party. For the price I was expecting to leave mildly impressed, however this was not the case. Wouldn’t recommend

Beautiful space completely spoiled by the ridiculously loud music. It’s connected to the bar with the same dance club type music blaring. The food was beautiful but mostly very average in flavor. Rather disappointing overall.

Excellent service and fantastic food! Local and very unique to Washington DC with a fired wood pizza oven and a 15 feet wood burning grill. And their cherry pie tastes so good! Would certainly come back again!
