Having stayed in an Aria in Budapest, expectations were high. Despite a few minor glitches, this hotel impressed me and deserves a 5 star ranking. There are so many good features, it is hard to know exactly where to start with the good news.
Rooms – There were two couples in our group and we occupied rooms 407 and 409. Each was spacious, with an oversized bed, which all of us commented may have been the most comfortable beds of any hotel we have ever stayed. The sitting area was comfortable with an easy to navigate entertainment system. The closet and drawer space was expansive and more than anyone could ever need. The décor was very nice, but not as good as the other Aria in which I stayed. I do not know the age, but the interior design could stand an upgrade.
My only real issues with the rooms are the small shower and overly warm room. For such a great design of a room, it was surprising they used a standard small shower base instead of a custom tiled larger shower. The tub, however, was a nice addition. As typical in Europe, you can rarely get the temperature below 19/20. Luckily, the windows opened, which allowed for comfort while sleeping. The rest of the bathroom was perfect. We found the rooms solid and very good sound proof.
Service – Other than the concierge, we found the staff amazing. Both prior to arrival and once on site, they replied promptly to all requests and reflected 5 star service. When calling the front desk, they always answered with our name. They knew us and our room # without prompting. Car service, excursion information and any other detail was taken care of. I needed a private room for a call and they made it happen. We wanted to watch fireworks from the roof and they accommodated. I am not sure why they have a concierge, since she is hidden in the back and my requests of her were directed back to the front desk, as was all my pre trip communication.
Fitness Room – The fitness room is small but adequate. My only issue was the broken elliptical. The gym staff said they would replace the battery and fix. They never did, which was disappointing.
Restaurant – We ate breakfast daily and it was very good. The buffet selection was large and the hot menu even better. The service was great and Ivana took care of us wonderfully every day. I was not a fan of eating at couches and suggest more regular tables be installed for breakfast. Daily tea was a nice touch.
We believe this is the best location in Prague. The Old Town can be a real zoo and way too crowded. The Old Town is a short walk, but the hotel felt very private and isolated. You can walk to the castle or old town in a few minutes. It was the best. We look forward to a return visit.
