Her rival Julianna Pena revealed the sad news on her Twitter. Love watching these title fights. One in particular… as I’ve just been informed that (Holly Holm) is injured and has pulled from our scheduled bout May 8. I wish her a full recovery,” Pena wrote.

However, it seems like the UFC will reschedule the fight for a later date. Pena has asked for a title shot against the champion Amanda Nunes; however, Nunes refused to fight her and asked her to make more noise before stepping to the top-dog.

The Brazilian defended her featherweight title against Megan Anderson at UFC 259 in another dominant display. She won the fight via submission in the early minutes of the first round.

Holly Holm and her impressive re-emergence

Holm has been a great fighter ever since her foray into the octagon. It showed when she won the bantamweight belt by beating the former champion, Ronda Rousey, in an impressive all-round display.

She faced some problems and lost 4 out of 5 of her next matches. She then bounced back to defeat Megan Anderson and then lost a fight against the champion Amanda Nunes.

She is currently ranked #2 in bantamweight with an impressive record of 14-5. Her opponent, Julianna Pena, is ranked #6 and has a record of 10-4. Her injury has postponed this amazing match-up, but both need a win to challenge for the title.
