The Holiday Inn Stevenage, part of the IHG chain, garners appreciation for its inviting atmosphere and notably clean accommodations, despite some guests suggesting the rooms could benefit from modern updates. The staff at this hotel receives accolades for their professionalism and warmth, enhancing guest stays significantly. Although the location is convenient, some travelers are dissatisfied with the additional costs for parking and breakfast. The hotel's amenities, including proximity to transport and local dining options, are well-received, even as a few guests mention the need for better in-room features and temperature control.

A super hotel. Clean, comfortable and extremely helpful and friendly staff. I ran a training event all week and the amenities were perfect for what we needed.
No one could do enough for you - from Joseph who looked after me all week, to Sue who welcomed me at breakfast each morning, Mollie who managed my conference room booking and everyone on reception. All super helpful.
Parking was ok but a little limited - an alternative is over the road.
Food was delicious - all meals and the extras we had on the conference.
Would have liked a few specials as I was there for 3 nights but the quality was great.
I stayed on the 6th floor which was very quiet. A great hotel to stay in.

Stayed here for one mid-week night. There is some parking at the hotel (£10 for the night) or you can use the public car park across the road (Stevenage Southgate Long Stay Car Park, which is £3.70 for the night and paid at the hotel) and its just a 2 minute walk using underpass. Check in staff were very friendly and efficient, my booking was room only but I was able to add breakfast for £10. There are lifts right by reception and my room was on the third floor (of 6). The room itself was clean, tidy and very spacious with a walkway into the room with wardrobe, drawers, kettle and safe before turning right past the bathroom and into where the bed and desk were. The bathroom was a good size with good quality towels plus shower gel, shampoo, and soap in dispensers. The bed was a good size and comfy and lighting was good. There was free WiFi (although I didn't use it, the 4G signal was good) a few plug sockets plus an iron and ironing board. The hotel bar was nice,a few beers on draft (Becks Vier was £4.50 a pint), again the staff were very nice. Breakfast had a good selection (help yourself plus a few items you could order off the menu (e.g. poached eggs). The was a good range of hot food plus fruit, cereal, toast etc plus apple and orange juices, water and a coffee machine. Overall a good place to stay if you are visiting Stevenage.

Holiday Inn Stevenage is definitely one of the better hotels to stay in if you're visiting the area. I've stayed here twice over the past 2 months (total of 6 nights) and there has always been something cosmetically wrong with the room i.e. light fixture coming away from the wall, broken tile etc. During my most recent stay during the November lockdown for work purposes, I was a tad disappointed to find left over receipts on the top shelf my wardrobe from the previous occupant. I didn’t raise this with reception, as I don’t think they could’ve done anything at the time. The starters on the food menu were unreasonably priced given the portion sizes. Have a look at the photo I’ve uploaded of the samosas in the polystyrene container, £7.50! The weekend breakfast offering was extremely disappointing; egg and bacon roll which didn’t have much filling in, and an out of date yoghurt to top things off. I raised the out of date yoghurt issue with reception (I believe the guy usually covers the dining area – not the super calm one), he didn’t really seem to care, no sorry or thank you, and as I gave it him, he just chucked it in the bin. I skipped breakfast on the second night, and luckily for my last night, the weekday hot breakfast option was a lot better (hash brown tasted a little stale). As a final minor point, you can hear announcements from the fire station between the hours of 0700-2200, so pick a room on the other side if you are planning on sleeping within these times. Good COVID-19 secure measures in place, communal area clean nice and clean. No other comments.

Me and my work colleagues have been using this hotel for the last three Years whilst working in the area with nothing but positive comments, however.... over the last few Months the hotel service has deteriorated in certain areas.
We are all IHG Spire Elite members and benefitted from complementary room upgrades if and when available.
This has recently changed and we are told these upgrades are no longer available for any of us using our IHG status.
I have also noticed so many changes over the last six weeks, to include a few the vehicle parking is shocking, they now allow 50% more vehicles to park within the Hotel grounds car park than marked parking spaces, this is very awkward when paying £10 per night for vehicles that will not fit under the overflow car park height restriction barrier over the road (this has been reported several times but every Tuesday & Wednesday they still take everyone’s £10 parking money and hope no disabled vehicles turn up as vans are told to park in these spaces) - toilet roll quality has been altered to cheap tissue - no toilet tissues in dispensers (on my last three stays there has been one sheet placed within the empty cardboard box to look like it is adequately stocked - one of the lift buttons has been broken for the last three weeks, this has been reported on numerous occasions but is still faulty.

Some of these comments might sound petty but when you spend so much time away from your home you tend to notice these things.

Whoever is Managing this hotel must have implemented these changes to either save or make additional profits.

The ground staff who run this hotel on a daily basis are fantastic, the food has also improved 100% over the last couple of Months.

Unfortunately me and my work colleagues will be relocating our stays for the foreseeable future which is a great shame as we usually stayed five nights most weeks.

Dear Mark, May I take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty to the hotel and for taking time to write this review. First of all, please accept my most sincere apologies for the issues you have experienced during your recent stays with us. We aim to provide a pleasant and comfortable experience to all valued guests like yourself, so I was really disappointed to read that your recent experienced failed to fully meet the expectations. We appreciate your loyalty to IHG brand and would like to assure you that complimentary upgrade to an executive room is still part of benefit of being IHG Spire Elite member. However as per IHG brand standards, it is subject to availability upon arrival and during high demand dates, sometimes we may not be able to offer a complimentary upgrade. However, our Reception Team will always recognize our regular guests’ preferences and will try to allocate rooms accordingly. In regards to our onsite car parking, I would like to let you know that we are currently reviewing our existing procedures and will be introducing some changes in the near future, which aim to improve accessibility. Your feedback is very important to us as it helps us to identify areas which need improvement, so thank you again for your comments. We sincerely hope that to welcome you and your colleagues back in the near future. Our Management Team would love to have an opportunity to discuss your experience in more details, next time you will be staying with us. Kind regards Management Team

I come to this hotel more frequently than most of the others because my experiences here have been brilliant. The standard rooms are not too far from being executive quality. Some of the rooms come with two beds, a very nicely sized bathroom, a safe, complimentary tea and a few other kitchen items. The restaurant serves very good food and overall, it’s a nice place to stay. The prices are slightly higher than the other hotels but isn’t something to worry about considering the quality you are getting. There was only one time when we had a problem getting into our room upon arrival because the room was locked from the inside but other than that, no problems here!

First time staying at a Holiday Inn and if this is their usual standard I will certainly use them again. Stayed here with two friends, had a lovely room with 3 single beds (quite a rare find as it's never easy finding a room for 3) Room was very clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The hotel itself has a very modern feel the bar, restaurant and communal areas all very well kept and all had a really chilled vibe which we loved. The absolute outstanding feature of this hotel is the staff......every member we came into contact with was so welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they all did it with a smile. Having recently stayed at a very reputable hotel in Las Vegas ( think Fountains) I can honestly say when it comes to customer service you guys could certainly teach them a thing or two! Would definitely recommend

Lovely hotel, clean and spacious rooms. Bar area is comfy and food menu offer suitable food after a long day working. The hotel has onsite parking that you pay for nightly but cars safely kept under the watchful eyes of a
Monitored camera system.

The staff are great and I have loved my visit here. I’m a frequent visitor to this hotel and treated like a king.

Special thanks to Simran for his continued patience with me loosing my room key and his excellent customer service skills.

I have found that the staff here just can’t do enough.

The ladies are excellent and service is brilliant.

The night shift deputy managers are alert and very kind attending to all my late night food needs lol.

Special thanks also to John night shift deputy manager for you kindness and helpful way.

I highly recommend this hotel, good location to town centre also.

I came to Stevenage and decide to stay in Holiday Inn Stevenage. It was nice stay with friendly staff, great breakfast food. Usually I am very picky with rooms but my one was clean and comfortable Even bathroom was in perfect condition and clean. Area is great as well. You can easily find train station without any taxi . And the most important is COVID safe. All staff wearing a mask and everywhere is a hand sanitizer stations. I think it’s very important this time.

The hotel is easily located as it's a large building that is hard to miss and is a short walk from railway station that is 20 mins or more from London, this is through plenty of cafes and shops to stock up on including a market.
The welcome and check in is first class with just a few questions and the signing in sheets, the hotel has a restaurant and Starbucks which serve late and with room service available including breakfast, only a basic coffee sachets an tea bag each in room.
Breakfast can be added but at a cost for two with the room which is too much if you are on your own, but there are early opening cafes nearby.
The rooms are adequate for a night and beds are comfortable, air-con doesn't have a very low setting and windows only open slightly and if you are on a low floor the busy road will be heard. TV is basic freeview but large and in the correct spot for watching in bed. The rooms aren't the cleanest and the bathroom in particular wasn't very clean with old smudge and grubby marks on walls and toilets being heavily stained under the rim, without a toilet brush in the room you couldn't clean it yourself.

Stayed here for 4 nights in July on business. Parking is 10 pounds per day (if you can get in; if not you must park across the road in a more expensive facility) Bar was good with good service and nice food. Only one beer on draught. Staff struggled to wear masks correctly and could be seen eating/drinking behind the bar between serving guests. The room was good but small, with nice views over a tired-looking town. Breakfast was nice but the waitress insisted on hoovering around tables at 7:30 am? Was a bit bizarre. Would use it again if needed to stay in the Herefordshire area.
