When Graf Herman von Orlamunde II was born about 1184, in Saxe-Altenburg, his father, Siegfried von Weimar Orlamünde III, was 30 and his mother, Sophie Valdemarsdatter, was 26. He married Beatrix von Andechs-Meranien about 1231, in Weimar, Thuringia, Germany. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter. He died about 27 December 1247, in his hometown, at the age of 64.
