We were so impressed by Haus der Musik. It’s really well laid out with lots of interesting stuff there, and having so many interactive exhibits was brilliant. We came on a midweek morning and it wasn’t too busy through most of the rooms. The one place we expected to be packed (the conducting experience on the top floor) was actually empty so we managed to spend loads of time there and between us conducted all of the different song options - so much fun! Would 100% recommend as a must see in the city.

I have been in Vienna for four days and have been fighting huge crowds at every tourist attraction. Someone suggested that I go to The House of Music. This museum is conveniently located close to city center and is housed in an older building, but the interior is refurbished in very modern style. The displays are very interesting and show memorabilia of the Vienna Symphony and the maestros who led it. There are also individual displays of Austrian composers such as Haydn and Mozart. This is a great place to take children as there are many interactive educational displays.

We were there on a quiet day and did not have to wait long for any of the interactive activities. The musical staircase was great, conducting the symphony well done but “writing” your own score took a bit of figuring out. You roll each of 4 dice 4 times until you get a check mark for each one. Then the activity will play your composition for you. It will be numbered and you have the option of purchasing the resultant sheet music before you leave. There was another opportunity to purchase the music you created a little later on. The displays were beautifully done and held the interest of young and old alike

This museum was a big surprise for me. Absolutely amazingly presented theme of the music! At the entrance, there is a staircase, part of which is a keyboard, so when you walk up it, the individual keys make sounds. The museum is not only full of exhibits related to the greats of classical music, but there are also many interactive elements. The automaton will compose W.A. Mozart-style music for you based on your name. By rolling virtual dice, you "compose" your own waltz. You can try conducting the Vienna Philharmonic. You can even take home recipes of Ludwig van Beethoven's favorite dishes.

Really good interactive museum. Had so much fun starting with walking up the musical stairs and later virtually conducting the Vienna Philharmonic! For musical history buffs there was a section with a whole room devoted to each composer with a link to Vienna. My non-musical partner enjoyed it as much as I did.
