Very disappointed. We have been coming here for over 10 years and this time we left after being seated before our server arrived. When we were greeted by a gentleman at the door we were putting our masks on and he jumped us and said...we would not be seated until we had masks and that we were not allowed in u til he took out temperature. Now they are not the only restaurant with these procedures but his attitude was enough to make us leave. What a shame, the attitude of arrogance ruined how we feel about one of our favorite places to eat in Key West.More

If I can give this bar a minus review I would. Absolutely horrible. Starting with management all the way to the dishwasher. I ran the Key West Half Marathon which this Joke of a place sponsored. Why sponsor anything if you are not going to...cater to the runners in town for the race. They ran a special for pasta and meatballs with a salad for the night before the race. We bought into their special which came out dismal. The water glass first came out with lipstick all over it. The pasta later came out like it was chef Boyardee. Moushy, salty and oily as anything. The next day after the race we had the unfortunate luck to win 2 of their tee shirts in the post race Raffle. I walked over to the restaurant to try and exchange the shirts to true size beings they donated 3XL sizes (I guess they haven’t sold those ever). They refused saying our manager told us not too exchange anything. Real good customer service. I’ve ruN this race for the past 4 years and finally decided to give them a try from my normal visits and wow did they disappoint. I hope nobody else feels this disrespected when going to this establishment. Do all our runners a favor and don’t sponsor the race next year if you aren’t t going to cater to us! Absolutely dIsgusting! You should be ashamed to call yourself a sponsor of anything!More

Half Shell Raw Bar has the best happy hour hands down! Beer, Steamed Shrimp, Oysters on a Half Shell, Little Neck Clams on a Half Shell and multiple other fresh ocean seafood is half price from 4:30 PM till 6:30 PM 7 days a week....The restaurant setting is a beautiful ocean side location and the staff are super friendly and willing to go the extra mile to assure you are happy. Most likely you will encounter a line, however, they move quickly getting you seated. If you love seafood, especially raw on a half shell this is a must visit?More

While traveling to Kew West this week, we have been frequenting the Half Shell Raw Bar. We sat at the bar and we were tended by Laura - she was super friendly, attentive, and professional. She kept her bar clean and was serious about disinfecting...the bar after each patron left, enforcing the mask requirement of all not siting at the bar eating or drinking — all while maintaining a fun and friendly environment. The staff is strict and consistent about wearing their own masks, as well. In addition to the excellent service, the food and beverages are delicious and generously portioned, and happy hour is a perfect option to eat and drink on the cheap. The atmosphere is a true Key West vibe - I would highly recommend.More

This is one of our favorite casual spots with great service and quality, fresh food. We enjoyed the fish dip, beer steamed peel and eat shrimp and the stone crabs, along with icy cold beers. You can’t go wrong here! We even made a repeat...visit during our most recent trip.More

Fun and casual seafood place - they had so much to choose from it was difficult to order. We had seasonal Stone Crab (we were told it had literally JUST been caught and brought in by "their fisherman"} as well as other local seafood. Key...Lime pie was perfect. Servers were wonderful and helpful. Would definitely come back.More

The raw oysters were very fresh and small- the best way to have them. Our server insisted I get the buffalo shrimp instead of conch fritters (because the shrimp is all seafood and the fritters are mostly filler) and they were so good I had...a second order. The drinks were plenty strong and the atmosphere was fun and loud. Not for kids.More

My husband loves raw oysters, so we decided to give it a try. Located right across from Turtle Krawl on the marina. My friend and I had the broiled oyster combo, which was bar B Q oysters, garlic butter oysters and oysters Rockefeller, my husband...did his raw oysters and one other friend had the raw clams. We were all happy with a calamari appetizer. We sat on the nice little outside patio. We would go back again!More

We haven’t been to Key West in 20 years. My wife wanted to go for her Birthday with friends. We went for lunch. Service was quick as we remember. Average beer selection but a couple of decent choices. We had Conch Fritters which were really...good. Some of the better ones this trip. One of our group had the Conch Ceviche. It’s served with Chip that were slightly stale and overcooked. I had a Hogfish Sandwich fried that was very good. The fries were fresh but typical of most larger restaurants. My wife had peel and eat shrimp which she remembered were as great as always.More

I've lived, worked, visited and patronized The Half Shell raw bar for over 22 years. We had friends down to visit in February 2020 and we decided to take them to Half shell Raw bar for some delicious stone crab claws. The meal was very...bad. I was embarrassed. We ordered 4 pounds of large stone crab claws. They are supposed to be delivered so the customer can complete the cracking; making them easier to eat. We had to send them back to be cracked again which ruined the crab meat. It contained several small pieces of shell. We had lunch another day this month. The drinks were so watered down you couldn't tell what you had ordered. Same week. Different day. My husband and I sat at the bar and ordered oysters Rockefeller. One of the oysters was very bad and my husband had to put it in a napkin. I've noticed a decline in the quality of their food over the past few years but this time was too bad to overlook. I continue to have high praise for the service staff. Go locals. But food was awful. We left and will not be back.More

This restaurant is the absolute TOP of the stack in Key west!! Visited many during our long weekend with friends and all of us agreed that Half Shell Raw Bar checked every box! The meals were made to order with exactly what was asked (no...butter on steamed veggies, served food hot, fresh etc) . The restaurant manager, Phil, checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. It was jam packed in there but everything ran so smoothly!!! Hats off to this well run restaurant ! Thank you!More

I love Half Shell but this visit was not as good as usual. I love the wait staff there. I went during Happy Hour solo and they seated me on a long bench table with other people. This was fine. They then later asked me...to move to a different table with the offer of a free dessert. Again fine and actually a better table. My waitress made a mistake and charged me for a full pound of peel and eat shrimp rather than the half pound I got. These things happen and it was quickly corrected. The food was just ok this time though. The shrimp was not chilled on ice and the conch fritters had tons of shells in them. I usually think Half Shell has the best fritters on the island. I still gave 4 stars for I did not let the waitress know of these issues. I am sure she would have replaced both no issue. I still love Half Shell and can't wait to return but wanted to be honest in the review.More
