Gus. Ulrich passes away at farm home early Sunday morning
Gus. Ulrich, a substantial and highly respected farmer of the Putney vicinity passed away at his farm home early Sunday morning, his death being due to a heart attack.
While he had not been in the best of health for a year or more, his passing was totally unexpected. Members of the family say that he was his usual active self as late as Saturday night, when he was up and about the house, playing the radio and enjoying himself. His death has cast an unusually heavy cloud of sorrow over his community.
The deceased was born in Rompitz, Germany, January 3, 1886, and when a lyoung man, came to this country settling at Ottowa, Ill. He came to South Dakota in October, 1906, with his wife and they have been residents of the county since that time.
Mr. Ulrich was married to Miss Wilhelmine Bulian, March 22, 1903, and to this union three children were born, all of whom survive him. They are: one daughter, Mrs. C. P. Knudsen, of Red Lake Falls, Minn.; two sons, Ervin and William , of Putney, together with his wife. Also on granddaughter, Lynne Joyce Knudsen.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Paetznick Funeral Home with Rev. F. E. Wilke in charge and the remains were laid to rest in Groton cemetery, attended by the sorrow of hundreds of sympathetic friends.
