I last went here over the summer, but I'm still dreaming of Green Elephant to this day. Absolutely phenomenal food and drinks, with a great ambience. I highly recommend the green curry here. Can't say enough good things about this place -- I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in Portsmouth!

Being a vegetarian, this restaurant is perfect. My boyfriend who loves meat even was able to enjoy his meal with no complaints of no meat! Everything here is so good.
Favorites are : peanut curry and tofu tiki masala - Thanh L.Point Breeze, Philadelphia, PA744668/25/2020
We love eating vegetarian every once in a while and was excited for some good Thai food! The soy nuggets had the same texture as fast food chicken nuggets but were tastier and (probably) healthier. Would definitely get them again. The dumplings, however, barely had any filling and was definitely not worth the price (6 small dumplings for $8). The thai iced tea was good and strong and not too sweet.
Thai food can be notoriously spicy so I played it safe and had the Siamese Dream curry noodles with level 1 spice. My husband loves spicy so he had the spicy vegetable medley stir fry with level 3 spicy. We specified no peanuts. Unless the peanuts were the spicy parts, there was absolutely no spice despite it being called "spicy vegetable medley" and us upping it to a level 3.
Nonetheless, the food was all very good. Would skip the dumplings next time and up everything to a level 5 if you want some spice in your life. - 22118334310/1/2020
The Green Elephant is a Thai restaurant situated at the base of downtown Portsmouth. Inside, diners will find an eclectic and rustic vibe with the aroma of cooking spices and curried dishes. Immediately, I was drawn into the atmosphere by the friendly staff and enticing smells. For dinner, my boyfriend and I split two dishes: the pad Thai and peanut curry. The pad Thai like most dishes at Green Elephant can be customized with a spice rating from 0-4. Vegan and vegetarian diners will flock to Green Elephant. As meat is not to be found generally on the menu. I should add that the dumplings and cocktails were a delicious start to the meal as well. All this for a great price and location in the heart of the sea coast.

We often stop in for appetizers and a drink. The spring rolls are the best I've ever had and the vegetable dumplings are out of this world too. We haven't had dinner here yet but plan to try some of the delicious looking entrees

We saw the high rating for this restaurant in Trip Advisor and Yelp and decided to try it while vacationing in the area. Â Both the food and service were outstanding. Â My wife and I enjoy vegetarian and Asian food and this was the best we've had. Â Not only was the quality great but we had plenty to take home and enjoy later.

Yum! Grabbed lunch here on a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the pad thai and was very pleased! Flavors are on point. I ordered the dish as 3 (out of 4) on the spicy scale, and it was just the right amount of heat for me - as someone who likes bold flavor but not too spicy! We were impressed by the drink selection, and wished we saved room for dessert. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Great experience!

What an amazing place !! Highly recommend this place for all vegetarians/ vegans/ and even the non- vegetarians. Each dish we ordered was yumm. Â The cocktails were delicious - my fav ziggy stardust ! You must visit if you are in Portsmouth!!!
Great service too! - Michael F.Cranford, NJ13688118/1/2021
Let me start off by saying I'm not a vegetarian and I had no issues eating here and had no problem finding something to eat. Â We dined here on a very busy Friday evening and we were lucky to get there before the wait list began. Â
We began with the steamed vegetable dumplings. Â Very tasty. Â They came 6 to an order. Â Thin shell and plenty of stuffing. Â My daughter and I each had the Thai Ginger Noodles at varying heat levels and my wife had the Singapore Noodles. Â The staff will ask you how spicy you want your dish.
Each dish was temperature hot, fresh, and very tasty. Â The portions were perfect. Â I can eat with the best of them and I was very satisfied with the portions. Â Each dish came with tofu which I hadn't had in a very long time. Â
The service was excellent and very friendly. Â The prices were very reasonable considering you are eating in downtown Portsmouth. Â This was an excellent change from overpriced fried seafood. Â There were parking lots in the area and very limited street parking. - Ian C.Somerville, MA012610/5/2021
It's simple: good food, good drinks (sneaky good draft list), friendly crew. Prices feel fair. Get the banana/coconut dessert - it slaps, like most everything else. No animals harmed for your meal...bonus.
I don't Yelp a lot, I kinda hate it. But this place is consistently good and deserved a shout out. Enjoy.
