I recommend the stardew valley predictor website
https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/
You could just use the tab that will tell you what is in the future geodes... golden coconuts on the right side of that page.
Does this work for the Switch version or just PC?
I'm not sure if Switch uses the same method of deciding geode contents as PC, but if it does, you can use another kind of geode to "search" through the contents of golden coconuts. This is useful if you have, for example, a lot of other geodes, but are limited by the number of golden coconuts you can obtain.
Again, I can't verify this method on switch, but the general idea is to go to Clint's at the start of the day, break open all of your coconuts, and see if you get what you want. If not, restart the day, go to Clint's and break open the same number of geodes as you have coconuts (eg if you have 3 coconuts, break open 3 geodes first), then check the contents of the coconuts. If you don't get what you want, restart the day, and this time break open 6 geodes before checking your coconuts. Repeat as necessary.
The idea is that every kind of geode (plus artifact troves and golden coconuts) has a list of contents that is decided at the start of the game, based on the game seed. And the contents of a specific geode are determined based on the total number of geodes broken. So if you know the item you want isn't in your first 3 golden coconut cracks, you can advance the counter with other geodes and check the next 3 golden coconut contents, etc etc. Takes a bit of real world time, but less in-game time to find what you want.
Honestly not sure, sorry. I should have specified that my suggestion was for PC. Unknown if option is there for consoles, or not.
That was still helpful! I have pc friends who could use this!! 😊
You have to have access to the save file and be able to upload it to the site, so yeah probably not gonna work for Switch.
I am literally right there, except i haven't yet found the snake spines either. I'm just grinding away at it, though...
Technique for this is a a little time consuming, but sleep the night on island and in the morning, if you see artifact spot on West island dug it up, if not what you want, restart the morning and near the artifact spot, dug up dirt around it... (like 5 times) then the artifact spot again. You should notice that the item result is different... Hopefully the snake spine. If not, try again.
This worked for me the two times I needed them (took two separate days of doing this).
Hope this helps 🙏 ☺
Thank you! I’ll give this a try
I couldn’t find the spines for the longest time and then one day I got 4. Your day will come!
I accidentally fertilizer'ed it at first, imagine my frustration when I realized I still had to turn it in! I wanted that ostrich incubator lol. But then I did manage to find it. Bought a few golden coconuts, and shook down a few more and I got it.
There's another way to determine your future geodes without using the predictor. Even if you restart the day, you'll get the same items from the same geodes, but there is a way to manipulate it.
First thing in the morning, take all your golden coconuts to Clint (let's say you have 5, for example). He busts them open, and none of them have the skull.
Restart the day, have Clint open 5 other geodes, then open the 5 Golden coconuts next. The coconuts will give you different items.
Still no luck? Restart the day again, then have Clint open 10 random geodes, then 15, then 20, etc... Eventually, you will get a Fossilized Skull.
There’s one fossil that can be found by panning in the river at the dig site, this may be that one. I remember grinding for ages and then found the remaining one by panning 😅

you can always "cheat" and buy an animal from marnie and name it [820] which is the item id code for the fossilized skull. when she says that she'll bring the animal to your farm immediately, she'll say the item code and the item will "drop" into your inventory. be sure to include the brackets!
here is a list of all the id codes
Nintendo said "Nuh uh uh!"☝️ and they took that cheat out of the Switch version. I always did that when I played on ipad though. So many chickens named [434][159][74] LMAO!
nooo, i'm so sorry!

I got that one already. The skull only comes from gold coconuts as far as I know. 😭
Argh that’s right. It’s just a matter of luck then I guess 😅
