There are about 20 research centers, institutes and initiatives, including the Center on National Security and the Law, the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection, and the Georgetown Climate Center. More than a dozen legal journals, including the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy, the Georgetown Law Technology Review, and the Georgetown Journal of Law and Modern Critical Race Perspectives, examine a wide variety of issues.

About 300 students may live in the university-owned Gewirz Student Center, which also includes a moot courtroom, student lounges and a child care facility. Notable Georgetown Law alumni include Savannah Guthrie, "Today" show co-host; Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines; and Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii.
