Geneseo has always been a diverse community with many unique characteristics and points of view. As we move forward, it is important to remember that. It is also important to remember we are all dependent on each other to continue to thrive and grow in ways that still say “home” to all the residents of the Village of Geneseo. The history of Geneseo is very interesting and always evolving. One thing that has remained constant is the beauty of the Valley. In recent years our participation in Letchworth Gateway Villages has drawn attention to the importance of recognizing this area is ripe for economic growth around outdoor recreation and local industries. LGV has grown significantly and now includes Trail Towns along the Genesee Valley from the Pennsylvania line to Scottsville. With this growth, many new partnerships have been forged and as a result, the area has gained recognition across the country. I recommend that you check out www.exploregeneseevalley.com. You can see just how much a small group of dedicated people starting in Geneseo, Perry and Mt. Morris has accomplished. The focus has always been on economic development by capitalizing on our assets, promoting local businesses and maintaining the beauty that draws people here year after year. Once you go to the website, be sure to sign up for the newsletter. It is always interesting and full of information you may not have realized was happening in our valley. The best part for me in this whole initiative is that the political boundaries have disappeared and the focus is on working together for our Regional identity. We have made a small investment that has brought 100 fold return and more. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

Town SupervisorLocated near the ancient Seneca Indian meeting place called Big Tree, Geneseo (Seneca for Beautiful Valley) was, and continues to be, an important crossroad where people gather to live and interact in a regional center of family, education and commerce. It is only natural that SUNY Geneseo was established here. It is also natural that business has thrived here through many of our nation's challenging times. People like it here.

Geneseo has a growing tourism industry with many fine and varied accommodations. Geneseo is home to the Livingston County Historical Society and the 1941 Historical Aircraft Museum. There are art galleries, restaurants, and wineries.

Residents and visitors have access to public parks and open spaces for biking, hiking, historic sights, walking tours, winter fun, and water sports on Conesus Lake and the Genesee River.

We believe in Geneseo; good people live here and contribute through a myriad of public and private organizations to bring excellence to the forefront of our experience. Geneseo is a resilient community able to grow with hands firmly fixed on what is great about our past and what is possible for our future.
