Bestselling author CHRISTOPHER LLOYD began his career as a journalist with the Sunday Times newspaper. Then, while camping with his family, he had a critical realization: Even with a 1st class degree in history from Cambridge University and experience as a science writer, there was so much about the world he didn't know. So, he set out to write books that zoom out and tell the big stories, opening readers' eyes to how seemingly unrelated events fit together and showing them multiple perspectives on the world, all in highly engaging prose and matched with lively illustration and photography.

Now, with more than 20 books in print, some in over a dozen languages, Christopher divides his time between writing books for adults and children and delivering lectures and workshops to schools, literary festivals, and a wide range of other venues around the world. His TEDx talk can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7vlUYdCh_I

My niece is a bookworm and she loves it!

I came across this while on the Amazon website and purchased it right away. I am a big believer in books and learning no matter how young you are. I purchased this as a quick and simple reference guide to use with my grandkids as I no longer have the full sets of Britannia and World Book Encyclopedias that we used for our own children.
I understand that most information can be found online these days, however, there is nothing like holding a real book in your hands and it can also help children develop their own reading skills and a joy of reading.
Have used it abunch of times since getting it and my three year old grandson likes me to show him various things in the book and learning new stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition for a child's book collection
Reviewed in Canada on April 27, 2024
It is bigger and heavier than I expected, however, it is definitely full of enough information to keep a child who enjoys reading, very busy. Even a child who isn't quite as enthralled with books, will find themselves drawn to this rather intriguing looking book, and take a moment to look and learn, only to return to it time and time again. It can be a reference book, a bedtime read, a "coffee table" book for kids. Definitely a book they will read many more times than once!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the curious little mind
Reviewed in the Netherlands on November 25, 2020
Got this book for my 7-year-old daughter. She is curious on mostly living things, but, after getting the book in hand, now she got curious about astronomy, history or even politics :) Every day she is reading some random pages and talks about it with the family. Basically, it is a great book for the whole family. Every body is learning small things every day from the book.

One negative side, the book is heavy and quite large, so the little one is afraid to read it while lying on the bed (for now :) )
