'Free Agents' defend show's language

Sharon Horgan and Stephen Mangan justify the use of bad language in their comedy Free Agents.

Sharon Horgan and Stephen Mangan have apparently justified the use of swearing in their new show Free Agents.

Horgan told PA that the bad language was essential to ensure character realism in the Channel 4 comedy, which follows two talent agents and their boss (Anthony Head).

The Pulling creator said: "I've always done slightly fruity stuff. I'm quite free with the f-word. I always think as long as you can justify it in some way and it's not completely gratuitous."

Mangan revealed that the show, which starts tomorrow, tackles adult themes. "We've got bereavement, people getting divorced, relationships in the work place, and it doesn't shirk from how, so I'm told, people in that world speak," he said.
