Tomorrow we fly on American out of Terminal 2. We have chosen to stay the night before at the Hilton Garden Inn to keep things simple in the Morning.
We fly on Airmiles generated by our American Advantage Mastercard. Never had to pay more than a tax or seat fee to come to Europe. Several
Trips.
This should be easy. - Nobody N.Pasadena, CA1204213Oct 9, 2023
This airport is too spread out. While the Lufthansa workers are helpful, it's their drivers who are not! We were running on tight schedule to a connecting flight and have no idea how long it would take for their shuttle to transport us from one terminal to the next one. The drivers were just chitchatting without a care in the world!!!! I saw one guy who totally missed his connecting flight and complained to the drivers. All they did was uttered a "Sorry"!!! What an attitude!!!
I am so grateful for a couple of American Business who said someone to the drivers ... still, they didn't care and end up saying "the terminal is 1 or 2 minute away" ... they almost didn't make their connecting flight to Albania! Thank goodness that we were fine! - Jul 8, 2022
Transited at Frankfurt the other day and it was a disastrous experience. Flew in via Singapore and needed to transfer to British Airways.
However, there was no signage indicating that British Airways leveraged D gates. Used the information counter and the worker merely informed me to follow the signage for D&E.
Frankfurt airport was deserted at 7 am. By the time I got to the D gates, it appeared to be for security screening. ...turns out I had to go through immigrations to get into Germany and check my bags on British Airways separately.
Immigration into Germany was quick and the immigration officer was questioning how long I would stay in Germany...
The British Airways check-in counters only open up 2 hours prior to the flight departure. The counter agent wasn't particularly friendly either, maybe it's a German thing?
There was a snack bar that sold snacks which was tasty. There was also free WiFi.
Immigrations to get out of Germany also took another 45 minutes + another 45 minutes for security screening around the batch of gates... The workers seemed very relaxed. Automated EU immigration kiosks were closed so only the manual officer version was available.
Boarding was also unorganized with the ground agent just telling passengers to go through and walk down the stairs to the bus... (The escalators were out of order)
There are also no beverage options post security... - Dec 3, 2021
The Frankfurt airport train station is my first stop on a nine day trip and we're off from here to Düsseldorf.
Getting from the airport to the train station was easy enough with good signage pointing the way to "trains" and step free access. In the station, there are plenty of kiosks from which you can purchase your ticket and they operate in multiple languages including English. My American credit card worked just fine (if you don't have a pin, try "0000") and I had a ticket in hand for the next train.
There are a few food and drink opportunities here and a few seats to wait because it's warmer in the ticketing level than it is on the platform level.
Train arrived on time and from the correct track. Thankfully, the train displayed the destination so I knew I was getting on the correct one. Overall, quite easy to negotiate. I'd like to see more seating available to make it ideal.

This train station is very well done and serves its purpose nicely. Accessible from Terminal 1 at FRA via a sky bridge and a few minute walk down a pedestrian access, the spaciousness of the architectural concept used in the design is striking a first glance. It is located near the airport hotels which enhances its convenience factor. The ticket office is well placed and efficiently run. There are also several amenities available in the station including a Starbucks and a couple of good eateries. The waiting area on the main level could use a few more seats but it is otherwise well laid out.
The station is not at all overwhelming as the platforms are easily accessible via escalator. Finding the proper track is pretty straightforward. The best aspect of the station, however, is the function is serves. It allows facile entree to points beyond FRA. It greatly reduces the hassle of using Frankfurt as a gateway to Germany and the region in general. Because of the useful purpose it serves in the scheme of the logistics of using FRA, I am a big fan of this station. - 32518079647Mar 10, 2018
Good airport and most people are helpful and speak English. Frankfurt is quite a large airport so it can get confusing but the signs are pretty clear. Clean and organized and nice interior. Quite a lot of people so usually always busy and quite crowded. Few different cafes and restaurants, also other shops. Reasonable prices but each varies. Different terminal have different speed for serving your food depending on how many customers there are and how many waiters/waitresses there are so just watch out before you sit down if you may be in a hurry soon. Pretty convenient with the ICE going to the airport and pretty on time. Lots of parking spaces too.

This airport is a bit mixed with its layout. It has checkpoints in odd areas so you at times need to go through immigration at multiple intervals. There was one time where I got my passport stamped 4 times in one day because of airline counter visits, eating, etc.
Eating options are OK. Some of the bathroom areas are too small and are oddly placed, and poorly marked. Food options are OK but not as nicely varied as Munich. Shopping is really good, if you are into that sort of thing. - 7316004846Jan 22, 2011
For those who come to Frankfurt, the easiest way to get to the airport is to take a long distance train (ICE - intercity express) to the Fernbahnhof. The Fernbahnhof should not be confused with the Regionalbahnhof, which S-bahn travelers can take to get to the airport. The Fernbahnhof is a lot closer to the airport terminals than is the Regionalbahnhof, but both are equally good ways to connect from air/train.
The Fernbahnhof station is fairly new and, like most of Germany (and German train stations), clean! This Fernbahnhof station contains train lines that connect Frankfurt with most of Germany (Mainz/Wiesbaden, Hamburg, Dortmund, Cologne, etc) and other European countries (Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium). So for those who have flown into Frankfurt, you can easily access other countries or German cities by taking an ICE train here. Trains tend to be more expensive since only ICE trains stop here.
I had to drop my friend off at the airport, so we took an ICE train as it would only take 10 minutes from Mainz, versus more than 30 minutes via S-Bahn #8. The cost, of course, was a little more than double (~12 euros versus ~5 euros), but we got to the airport really fast. Once we got out of the Fernbahnhof station, we walked for a few minutes and we were right at the terminals.
As there are multiple train stations in Frankfurt, trains do come here less frequently than the Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof. So, if you have a Eurail pass, you may need to wait quite some time to get onto a train *out* of the Fernbahnhof station to your destination.
But all in all, this train station is small, compact, clean, convenient, and well-connected! - Sep 29, 2013
I loved the Frankfurt Airport train station...i.e. the Fernbahnhof am Flughafen! If you're a tourist or a traveler and you flight into Frankfurt Airport, the Fernbahnhof am Flughafen is your best bet to transfer pretty much anywhere in Germany or the EU. My German trip consisted of 90% train transportation (and some bus) and no automobile. It was that easy. We also stayed at the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel which was above and neighbored the Fernbahnhof am Flughafen. As a tourist, I didn't need to start my travels from the main Frankfurt train station either. You could access any city in Germany from the Fernbahnhof am Flughafen.
The Fernbahnhof am Flughafen has a lot of trains, it has a lot of eateries (not restaurants, just places to grab food on the go), the DB train information desk are happy to help and it's clean. Signs are clearly marked and everything's new.
Connect to the high speed country trains (ICE), the regional DB trains or the subways and trains into Frankfurt. Everything you need in good train station.
